When fishing a rocky shoreline with no stable ground to plant a sand spike what are your alternatives? Thanks!

take a pool noodle cut in half.stick the rod between two rocks.then place the noodle between the rod and the rock.

You could use a tripod but I'm not sure where they sell them in the states.
