Guys;

I am looking at the new Daiwa Emcast Rods.

I have an 11 ft Daiwa Eliminator and I have been very pleased with it. I also have a Breakaway 13 ft LDX and for the money the Eliminator stacks up pretty well for me as I am not an extreme distance caster anyway.

So I am looking at the new Emcast Rods and they are running about $70 bucks for the 11 footers as opposed to about $55 for the Eliminator.

The big differences I see is that the Emcast has a Duracork grip and has what Daiwa calls X-Tube blank protection that prevents scratching and wear from taking the rod in and out of the rod holder.

It is also listed as having a fast action as opposed the Eliminator which has a regular action.

So I have two questions.

1.Does anyone have a Daiwa Emcast Rod and what do they think

2. What is the difference in Daiwa's Action rating of Fast and Regular

I have one that is 10' that I bought from the Baitshack last year. It is a great rod. Looks good and handles well.

I have not landed anything big on it yeat but it cast great. I have a ABU 6500 C3 on it now. I use it for throwing metal.

I believe fast action means that the tip will bend a lot more than a regular action, before the middle of the rod will be called into action for the same amount of force. A reg action will bend more evenly along the blank, and a fast action will bend more at the tip 1st.

I have snapped more fast tips than meds. I like the whole blank to do the work. I'm not that great of a caster, 100-125yds on most within it's rating, so that contributes to it too, I'm sure. I have 5 eliminators too, great bang for your buck rods. I've guppy caught whiting to 4' sharks with them. I have 4 of the Sealine S rods. They're a little stiffer tip, lighter, and thinner. I guess personal preference.

I just got a 11'3" 6-10oz conventional. Throwing 6oz in a tennis ball, I am getting just under 100yds (my first conventional setup, still learning) but I feel that the rod isn't loading fully. I've yet to throw 8oz with it but will soon as I'm just trying to get the technique down first. The rod is very aesthetically pleasing and I really like the grip it has on it.

Well I took the plunge and bought the 10' MH Daiwa Emcast Rod and I threw in a new Daiwa Emcast Plus 6000 reel.:fishing:

I have two Emcast Plus 5000 reels and I love them but I have been wanting the bigger 6000 for a while, so I am going to mount the new 6000 reel on my 13 ft Breakaway LDX and take one of my Emcast 5000's and put it on the new Emcast Rod

I am thinking about bulking up to Fireline 30 lb for the 6000/LDX combo and use it as Shark/ Big game rod:fishing:

My wife is gonna kill me when they come in:eek:....hope she is not home when UPS shows up:)....anyway she will get over it:redface:
