I'm probably going to take a ride up to visit the guys selling them this weekend. I plan on checking them out while I'm there. I'm very curious what the final product is like as well.

Cool! I'll be heading up Saturday if Ray is going to be there. I still need to call them and find out if anyone will be around.

Ray is there now if you want to give him a call. I'll be stopping by there in an hour so and can let you know what they have left in stock on the CTS surf blanks.

K-Man,
Are you actually going to build a rod from scratch? ;) If so, drop me a line...

Me build a rod?? LOL! No freaking way.. I have no interest in learning how to build a rod... Plus, if I did I wouldn't wanna learn on a $300 blank.. :)

I haven't thrown one, but looked at them a bit down at the High Point show last week. Pretty rod, very nice finish. Loads all the way to the reel seat though, a slow throwing/loading rod, I would say. Will get a chance to throw one soon.

there are some tackleshops that occasionally sell their blanks for cheap.
you can find like 5-20$ blanks to learn on.
maybe build some. and give them away as freebies for the kids or something.

Nice ain't it!
I had a feeling the 3-6 would be a cannon as a spinning rod! I loved throwing 5 oz on it while testing, and it also smoked 6oz as well. Didn't put 7oz on it, but I'm sure it would work! :D

It will throw 10oz just fine! Heck I threw 14oz with the 8-10oz blank!

I picked up a 3 to 6 in High Point and taped it up as a conventional and it will smoke 4 but likes 5 a little better. Can't wait to get it wrapped and really put some power to it. (And it's pretty and blue too.)
