Anyone ever use. Dont they have to be put on a special rod, or placement on the rod? I have read that once you figure out how to cast with this reel, it will cast as far as a conv reel. Any truth in this? Where do people use these reels? Anyone on Pier and Surf currently use them? How tough or easy is using an Alvey reel, in bringing a nice sized fish in. Need feedback, someone gave me one, and am thinking about what to do with it. Use it, sell it, throw it off the Choptank?????

Thanks- Steve

They do not makea very good anchor.
I have the rod and reel and if you are coming to the spring fling I will being it and let you make ur your own mind. To me they are hard to throw. They are a low reel which is one reason I hve a problem I never could throw a low reel. If you would like I will bring it.
