What are the best artificial options right now (mid april) from the surf?
In my box right now:
1- gold/silver gotcha
1- red/wht gotcha w/ mylar and bucktail
1- pink/white glass minnow
1- silver clark spoon
1- silver hopkins
1- gold stingsilver
1- red/white Bomber (like Mirrolure)
1- red/chartruese Bomber (like mirrolure)
1- gold 4 sided lure with mylar sides and rear treble (not sure of maker)
I've also got some red jig heads and som Gulp Alive New Penny Shrimp and white curl tail grubs.
What in your opinion should I add for my trip to Cape Lookout this weekend? Color choices? I feel like adding a few pieces of lure candy to my box this week! :fishing:

Looks like a good selection to me. All I would add is some green curly tail and wag tail grubs and a few leadhead bucktails - white - yellow - or green. Oh - an I have to have some DOA shrimp - gold sparkle or rootbeer. You should be set for anything. Don't forget -

I'd add a few bucktails and maybe a few MirrOlures. I mainly use white, chartreuse, and pink bucktails, with a few blacks for low light/nighttime.

I'd add a few more 2 oz stingsilvers (pink and white) or (silver) and a couple of 1 oz gold hopkins. Your going to lose several spoons if the fish are hitting.

go to bass pro or your local shop and get 4-5 of each...lol...really, get some various jig heads and colors of tails...don't go all light colors...the dark ones work at times...you will lose stuff if you are fishing right...good luck

will you realy loose that many lures in the surf? I though that since there is not much structure, that there is not much to snag on, compared to fishing near a rocky jetty.

The worse line cutting structure in the world resides in the ocean. It's called a Bluefish

Add you a few 3/4 -1oz rattle traps to the collection.. Colors are CLASSIFIED ... Just kidding, try pink-n-chrome, its my favorite.. Any one shiny..
i still think bucktails are best.
they can catch anything under the sun,,, err i mean water.
white/red/chartuese for the day
black/purple for the night
gotta love bouncing them on the bottom.
