Howdy!
I'm 51 years old, fat as hell, horribly out of shape and I haven't done anything I'd call serious fishing in around 20 years.

That said, I've really enjoyed reading all the posts here and I'm getting inspired. Of course EVERYTHING has changed since I had to give up fishing, I'll have to re-learn from square one (and this is the place to do it).

Welcome oldschool - as others have said, you have come to the right place. You are one up on me, as I didn't start fishing until 50. These guys got me into some fish in no time (though some thought it was going to take forever) and all I had to do was "tag along" with 'em. I couldn't help but learn.

First order of business is to get a 4x4.

At your age and mine (57) you need to just drive up to the surf, throw ever thing out, wet the first hook, then sit down, pop a top of good cold one and just enjoy the scene, the birds the waves, no since in making it a struggle that stresses the body or the mind. After that throw hooks 2 and 3 out.:fishing:

Second order of business is read every post in here, even the old ones and ask any question you want as no question is a dumb as not asking in the first place.;)

Tight Lines and welcome

Yeah, 20 year old mono ain't gonna cut it :) !

Unfortunately I sold almost all my gear. I was a total tackle ho too, had 30+ rods. Big Abu's, Newells, Penns and all the rods custom built by yours truly!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome!

Hello and welcome.
It's great to see fishermen getting back into this great sport as I did 10 years ago. Nothing better than the fresh sea air and meeting the great people out there on the sand and planks.

Welcome to the Boards Old School !!
Don't worry about being out of shape. Fishing is one sport where being out of condition matters very little. Hell, the only exercise I get is walking to the funerals of friends of mine who used to exercise !!! And if you need any equipment, just send me an email and I'll sell you rods and reels cheaper than any tackle shop...I've got more stuff than I'll ever use and it's the good stuff priced right. Howie
