I am in the same situation and am looking into this also. I think you can download at high speed but upload is 256K.

I just signed up for a 2 year Broadband Wireless with Sprint for $60 a month and connects to the Cell Towers. I can take my laptop just about anywhere (can you say the beach) and get a connection. I would suggest getting a USB adapter rather than a PCI cause you use on your home or your laptop

Definitely get the USB. The PCMCIA will only work on your laptop. As for satellite, most any internet connection has a slower upload than download speed. I think the FIOS stuff is 15 down, 2 up. Cox is like 5 down, 1 up. Something like that. I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to that anymore though.

verison FIOS...got to kick COX to the curb...tv, phone w/free long distance, and my internet rocks...got all the bells and whistles on the phone, and I actually feel safer(info wise) on the net...my son works for them...
