I'm Back!

Just to update my family here, just got back home yesterday from my heart surgery. This is absolutely the most miserable, painful and downright frightening thing I have ever been through. They ended up doing a triple bypass. I am sore all over, now have very little appetite, and am still trying to sort out which meds I'm on are causing which side effects (nausea, diarrhea, cramps, headaches, etc). It is very difficult to walk any further than 200 feet without stopping to rest. With all that complaining, however, it is still better than the alternatitive. To be honest, I was convinced I would not make it through this, and was extremely glad to wake up in recovery, pain or no pain. I also seem to be feeling better each day, and the pain continues to diminish. Probably the best thing that has happened is that over my 8 day hospital stay, I have lost all desire to smoke. All I need to do is look down and see all the stitches in my chest, groin and leg and all desire leaves me. It will probably be 2 months before I can get back to fishing, but I can at least view your guys reports on here. I thank all of you for your prayers and well-wishes. It's good to be back.

But I'll bet you will be more like 2-3 weeks before you fish.

Your going to start feeling great when the hospital effects wear off.

Welcome back. Recovery is gonna be one day at time. A friend of had the same sugery and they had to replace his aortic valve with a mechanical one. It took a while but he is back to health. Just listen to you docs and do what they say.
