Do any of you, who fish Tica rods, use braided line? I am going to make the switch from 15# mono to 20 or 30# braid spooled on a Fin-Nor 400 for use with my 9' Tica UEHA. I am wondering of you have had any problems with the braid cutting into the guides, or in any other way damaging them. I thought I would ask before I drop the $$ on braid and kill my guides.
Thanks

I use 30 lb test Spiderwire Stealth on my Tica 9' UEHA (1-3 oz capability) and love it! Have not had any problems yet with braid - rod or reel. Just have to watch the braid when fishing at night...

I didn't think it would be a problem, but I thought I would ask. Sandcrab- What is the problem with braid at night?? Is it afraid of the dark?:p

You have to pay closer attention to the line coming in to make sure the line lays on the reel tightly as this is sometimes tough to do at night. I just check it more often.
Now braid on a conventional reel at night...Whoa!

Is that why some people say they prefer to close the bail manually when using braid? I guess they are tightening up the line with their fingers to prevent the deep loop. I have never used braid before. Thanks for the tips.

i recommend power pro or tuf line...you'll never go back to mono...the distance you gain in casting is great and sine there is no stretch to the line you feel EVERYTHING...if a fish farts to close to your line you will feel a vibration lol
i have been using it since june and only had ONE wind knot...got it from casting into the wind at nighttime....
