Hey all I have to share this with ya.
During the storm two days ago I worked day shift. We had power lines down, poles down, tree into houses etc. We even lost power at Police HQ, no radios, phones, computers or 9-1-1. We were dispatching on hand held portables and cell phones. Anyway after work I go to Rio Grande to get dinner and almost get killed twice because people forget how to drive in the rain. I get home, and about 9:30 my daughter Kelsie calls.
Hers is how the conversation started........
"Hi dad, I'm ok, a little shaken but I'm ok, so calm down.":confused:
Now mind you she is 15 years old. Like any parent the ole blood presssure went up about 100points. she then proceeds to tell me that her and her mother, my ex-wife were at a local Wawa in Absecon where they live. My daughter goes inside, gets what she needs and goes up to the counter to pay. At the counter, a scruffy guy was standing there and really creeped her out. She stoped and waited becuase he creeped her out and she thought that he was infront of her in line. he told her to go ahead and she paid for her things and left.
NOW............
She gets outside and at the same time a Absecon Police SWAT team come around the corner all decked out and had his gun out pointed at my daughter!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek:
He asked her if she was ok and she replied, ..
"What the "F" are you pointing that thing at me for?"
He asked her again if she was ok and if all was ok in the store. Her reply was the same. he told her that they had a report of an armed robbery in the store. She told the officer that she and the clerk and the creepy guy were the only ones in the store. With that he grabs her and throw her behind him and he and his back up that has now arrived, about 10 other officers swarm the store and take the creepy guy down at gun point. YES, my daugter walked into a friggin armed robbery!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek:. According to the police right before my daughter walked into the store the creepy guy walked into the store and announced the robbery and he was armed with a handgun. my daughter came strollin in and he put the gun in his pocket and his attention was diverted just enough for the clerk to push the panic button. I don't know why he let her go, but all I can say is it was the Bigg paw from the Bigg Dogg upstairs that protected her. she did not see the weapon when she walked in. She is ok the ex is ok and that's the main thing. With 20 years on the job I know how these things can turn out. I truly believe that it was a miracle.
