I am getting ready to Google it but any of ya'll have one? I bet they are expensive. Can I get a telescopic lens? Bet if I could catch a vandal, I could get the reward and pay for some of the gear it takes to catch a vandal.

I feel like with every inch of sand we loose, the memories that keep us all young fade just a little. If we are not allowed make new ones why bother to live?.....I'll tell you why...TO WIN. I hope we win, I hope the wildlife flourishes on the NC beaches and I hope the powers-that-be see that humans and wildlife can share the beach. Take away fishing? Are you kidding me? It is ripping my #%$*ing heart out. Soon I will be in a much better position to fight...and I will. I write what I can...Call who I can but with more $ I'll be able to give more to the cause...With more time on my hands I can fight on the front lines....You know what would a cool weapon on the front lines of this battle for sand??? A night vision camera.

Thanks for letting me vent P&S.

All of the old Sony video cams had them. Extra lenses could be added also. I have one, but the humidity at the shore would shut it down completely. Twice I tried home built “cases” out of industrial zip-lock bags, all with no luck. Gave up after four trips to the repair shop in four years. So whatever you get might need to be weather proof.

I don't live down there but if I did I would certainly try to organize some kind of neighbor hood beach watch to show the tree-huggers that we do care what happens. I would even volunteer when I come down on vacation. Just thinking out loud!

Wonder if one of my trail cams would work? Only good for about 30 yds at night but are completely weatherproof. Could set it up an sit back an wait. Give me a call when you get a chance.

the thing with trail cams, is taht if they take a flash, and someone sees that it is just a camera attached to the fence....they can just take that too...

deer are alot easier to fool :p

I say get out there with some night vison binoc's , and have a handful of guys waitin on the other side of the dunes to "detain" them until the cops get there.

try to find www.ittdefense.com...they make NV for the military...I think the bird lovers kicked over the signs and such...what really gets me is that they keep saying up here that if OMEGA leaves, 250 jobs in Reedville are lost...If the beaches in NC are lost, you will lose thousands of jobs and many store owners...

I have a sony digital slr camera with night vision. It has a telephoto 15x digital but the range is only about 30 feet. You do not need a flash for it. I do not take it fishing though.

I've got an ITT night vision set that works great and I've had a lot of fun with it at Hatteras. Cost $2,500 back in 2000 and but I believe price has gone up since then. Thing about a camera is subject to discovery/theft if left out during the night but with a manned set of night vision goggles you've have much better chance of catching villian and can cover a lot more area.
