I'll have to go with poor overall.

Got into some blues on lures but no spring drum, trout or stripers.

Croakers have been non existent.

I said average because I've been out much more than in the recent past, but still haven't caught much.

I said poor. Not much fishing time. Salt has been p but fresh has been average. Salt takes more time and money for me.

I'd have to say pretty good. Caught my first Spanish, limited out on them the next day, and caught a limit of blues the day before that. Only been a few times, but the others were when the water was too cold.

I'd have to say average. I didn't get as many from the boat during trophy season as I'm used to, but we were running a smaller boat with a smaller spread. However, fishing from the beach I managed some good pullage and fishing from the yak I managed more white perch than I could ask for....soooo with all that said it probably all evens out to a nice fat average

...well either its their super abundance right now or I have really got some good holes..
.BUT the spring Speckled Trout have NEVER SLOWED DOWN in the area's I fish...:p

...dang if they ain't still here in quanity and size...

..there is usually a lull between early may until late june...BUT NOT THIS YEAR!!!
..So I have to say my spring has been the BEST I have ever had as long as we're talking about speckled trout!!!..

..however...bonita sucked:--|....spanish are/were 2-3 weeks behind:confused:...

...but if you LIKE chopper "head-fish" blues it had to be the BEST in a few years too..

...over-all in my area..(Carolina bch-Topsail) most folks would probably say ONLY FAIR....

...but I AM gonna keep the speckled boys honest ..RIGHT ON AND RIGHT ON..

..cause experience has taught it WON'T LAST for ever...(year after year)...:D

I've caught my share of blues and specs, and tomorrow morning my 5 year old and I are going to the pier before he goes to a birthday party. Hopefully he can smell like fish and tell all the kids what a great time he had showing his Dad how to catch something!:fishing:

I don't call 50 plus flounder in one day sucky but maybe my expectations are a bit low :D

Anytime I go fishn and don't get skunked it is a good day :D

sub par at best, i think because we had a record rain fall this May it threw the salinity all out of whack.

About a month or two behind here as well. Most of the Pomps stayed a little farther south and by the time the few got up this way and the bite on a few other species turned on, I had my surgery and couldn't fish. If there were a choice for "worse than poor", I would have selected it. Mostly just a few whiting and blues. Never even caught a red yet.

very good. been fishin my ass off and trying to make the most of it.

march was wide open reds and trout with pretty decent sized trout for the most part.

april was pretty much the same, with the bonito showing up at the end of the month pretty good, but especially for those up off topsail. oh yeah, and the chopper blues of course! i cant seem to get away from them. back of the creeks, the waterway, along the beach...they've been absolutely everywhere. whenever i think they're about done for the season, i catch another.

may, as usual, has provided some awesome fishin. reds, trout, choppers, sheepshead, bonito, spanish, and a cobia in the kayak. still havent landed that smoker king or monster cobe as of yet, but i'm feelin it next week.....

Not enough time and too much rain and seagrass has been issues for me.

Surf fishing was a standstill. I know alot of guys that fish hard that didn't get a drum this spring. I only got one and I actually feel lucky about it.

Yak fishing as usual has been good.

With the hatteras option now unavailable, have been travelling further south and have seen a good number of kings caught, and have caught good numbers of nice trout. And way more big head blues than I care for.

Definatley not a banner spring by any means whatsoever, but not terrible either.

March freshwater had some good bass

Surf in march wasn't the best (toads, flounder and rays)

End of April big blues and doggies and 1 red 28" so that was a success.

April/May freshwater has been hurting to say the least, so I'll go with average.

poor, all I've been catching is bait (croaker), small blues (also bait) and a few bullnose rays. Caught a decent chafe yesterday morning though, spent most of the day with a bottle of baby powder.

March and April were so-so. A few puppys caught in Ockracoke and a few blues mixed in, some skates just for kicks. May was alll but non existant due to the Hatteras fiasco, Last week of May found me in the Fla. Keys. Got my 1st Tarpon 120lber and 12 -14 Specks for 3 days running from the Jew Fish Creek Bridge area in Key Largo. June will be pretty slow due to the fact that my wife & I just bought a house and funds are tight.

Great, but I had to travel to the fish. Saw a couple unbelievable sights and thats what fishings all about. Drum stacked out from one side of a jetty to the other, backs halfway out of the water eating anything casted their way. Two jack crevalles on one chugger and even got my biggest flounder to date, a whopping 16 1/2 inches. Looking forward to seeing what summer brings!
