Well, I finally got around to putting the red brakes on my sealine.. Wanted to make sure I did it correctly.... You just open up the left side of the reel, and slide them on the two little metal pegs that run "parallel" to the reel, right? Also, how far are you supposed to slide them up those little pegs? Just wanted to make sure I did it right, and the manual doesn't have a word of info. about it.. Thanks.

Slide all the way to make sure they are inside the break ring. On the cast they will move out to contact the ring and start the breaking process.

they slide all the way in. cause its ... centrifugal
they slide out automatically when the spool spins up.

Thanks a million fellas... I was wondering exactly how they helped brake it, but that explained it perfectly... Thanks again.

also, they're supposed to be used flat side out according to Daiwa, but will go faster if you use round side out...

Thanks Kenyee. I was going to ask that question as well, and it's already answered.. I have to turn them around then. I had the round side out. Thanks.

drawinout: FWIW, I had no problems w/ it that way...only light fluffing occasionally and a big fluff when I tried ripping a light popper into a headwind that took 5min to pick out. It was my first conventional reel too. You might like the extra distance so give both a try.
