Hey guys I put up a new video with one of my go-to Florida guides showing how he ties a simple terminal tackle knot that he uses.

He calls it a "Commercial Knot" and pretty much uses it all the time.

http://forshorefishing.theledger.com/default.asp?item=2208713

I was wondering if they're might be another name for this knot. I did some research, but couldn't find one.

It looks like a great knot.

I've pretty much always used an improved clinch knot and that gets tough to tie with heavier line. I'm gonna try this knot out.

Check it out and let me know what you think and if you know it by any other name.

I've been to a lot of different knot sites and I've never seen that one. You can bet I'll try it as soon as possible though, probably Thursday if the weather is good!

I'll try this knot.
It looks quick and easy to tie.
Thanks.

Looks like a nail or reverse uni knot. Good looking knot either way.

Looks good! I bet it works with braid as well.

It looks like a good knot, in the same style as a uni, nail or San Diego. However, like those single line knots, they are not 100%; the San Diego's the highest of the bunch, probably testing out at 90% or so. That said, few terminal tackle knots test out at 100%, and if this one is easy to tie, then it'll work :)

Thanks for the positive comments guys. It looks like a good knot to me and I'm looking forward to trying it out with heavier test mono leader for tarpon and grouper fishing.

Thanks for posting. That knot looks pretty simple and I've been having a problem with heavier mono.

I'm gonna give that one a try.

I tried the Commercial Knot last week on a 8/0 circle and 80lb test and it ties like a dream. Had a good tug for about 30 seconds on a bluefish head but the hook never set. Still in all, the knot held great!

Going to field test it tomorrow.

I've been using the knot since last year on all my heavier mono offshore rigs. I've not had one knot failure in numerous trips dealing with some heavy fish such as groupers, snappers, amberjack, smoker kingfish, and even an eight foot bull shark.

That knot works and I've seen many other offshore skippers using that knot as well.

We used that knot exclusively on my birthday offshore trip last month and a few of the guys had some breakoffs, but they weren't at the knot. It was always leader failure above the knot.

Check out the pics.

Only one I use when not using snelling hooks. A "on the fishing grounds" nail type[only 3 wraps]. Fast, holds, good for low or no light,20# test and higher mono. No problems to date!!!!

Nice, I need to learn the uni knot or what ever is best for securing shock leader to smaller line.

It is very good, I prefer Improved Blood knot, The Slim Beauty is another very good one, As is Spider hitch to Noname. all are rather easy to tie, pick one and learn to tie it good. I have been tieing the Improved Blood for 15 years and have never had a knot failure. As with any knot lubrication is very important and testing it before each use is a must.

My best spanish this week was on 10# test mono using a bimini in mainline tied with yucatan on 30# ,18" mono leader tied to got-cha with homer rhode no-slip loop. Wasn't that easy but it came over the rail!!!

It would appear that this is a three-wrap version of the Double-Wrap Hangman's Knot, or the Blood Knot. I'll have to give it a try, seeing as I can't tie the Palomar and a big ray busted my Blood Knot last week.

I watched the video, tied it once but I did use enough line,,,fell apart.

Tried it a second time, gave my self 6-8 inches of line and it worked like a champ.

Easy to tie, slides right nice and tight, no friction, no curling of the line, no spit required and best of all:

REQUIRES NO TEETH:D:D Therefore I vote it should be called (rather than the Surgeon's Knot) the "Dentists Knot";););)

IT IS MY KNOT NOW.:cool::cool::cool:

Thanks for the info and it makes you wonder

WHY IN THE HELL HAS NO ONE SHOWN THIS KNOT BEFORE:D:D:beer::beer:

I'm glad my video of Capt. Shawn was useful. I'm planning on doing many more of these videos in the future.

I'm working on one as with another Captain buddy of mine showing how to to do the double uni to uni for line to leader knot especially for braid.

I think it has been mentioned somewhere here before!!
