Does anyone else sit on the beach and soak bait to get away from their life's problems? I find that surf fishing is the most relaxing thing in the world, and boy could I use some relaxation right no.

For me fishing in general is the most relaxing thing in the world. Weather I catch or not, at least I am enjoying myself.

i tell the people at work (some of my co-workers are shrinks and social workers) that a half day or day of fishing does wonders for my mental well being.
I tell you being on the beach during the day or at the inlet or on a pier at night just me, the darkness, fresh air, the smell of salt water, its so relaxing.
now the ride home after being skunked sometimes makes things worse, but just being out, hell it's worth it, to me at least.

I need fishing like others need money. Even though my money's not always plentiful for some reason I'm still going fishin'! Work less, Fish More!

I agree, which is why our money is "not always plentiful", LOL:D

Nothing like being at the waters edge at daybreak, just as the first rays of sunlight begin to peek out over the horizon, the smell of the salt spray, the sound of the surf rolling in at your feet with the occaisonal gull cry echoing out over the water. If thats not therapy, I sure as hell dont know what is.
Funny how the everyday stresses seem to just disappear when your are out there. Catching fish or just soaking bait, its just being there that does it for me.

I been told I have to post up on this one because I am the so called King of Relaxation.
I been known to once drive 3 hours to the beach and spend 2 days without pulling a fishn pole out of it's holder, been known to pull up on the beach and get a chilly one out and shoot the breeze, been known to not fish hard from time to time.
Now let me explain why,,, I run my own business and build racks and sand spikes on the side ok so 2 business, now when I go to the beach there is no work calls, no reports to type, no faxes, no taxes, no customers, no payrole, no tools to go buy, no job tomorrow, no equipment I need to pick up, no,,, are ya getting the idea
So if someone doesn't want to fish hard and they are having a good time anyway,,,, just let them relax, the salt and sand is doing their job. :D

Yeah, there's just something about being at the water's edge, waves lapping at your feet, crashing in your ears. No better place to be.
And if you catch something, it's just icing on the cake.
I grew up in San Diego and spent a lot of time in/at the water. After living in Denver, Chattanooga and now Rocky Mount, just being at the beach brings back all the memories of great trips gone by.
Heck even sitting on the front porch with a cold one, thinking of the beach can help me relax.
That's why I keep going back.

I guess I'd have to say I fish like Shooter. The only exception is that I tend to drink more coffee than beer, but that's a fault I can work on.
