I may be in the market for used Daiwa BG's as collector items. As such I have several questions:

1. Is there a way to tell the age by a serial number.

2.Since they have been made over the past 25 years, has the technology changed any from then to now.

3. Is there any way to tell the age by looking at the reel :fishing:

The BG series reels have not changed. They are still made with the same components. The component materials may have changed, I have no way to tell.

Just a little reference site from the UK! Can't find the BG on there yet, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. Tons of schematics on Daiwas. Great for the rest of you guys as well!!! http://http://www.phantomfisher.com/

Also, you can "broadley" narrow it down by "possibly" checking the reel foot. Not familiar up close and personal with this reel, but if your's says "Japan" on the reel foot or somewhere else, it's probably an earlier model. Starting around 1977-1978, they made them in Korea. Not sure where they are made now.
