mdram and I got on the water around 7:30 AM and almost didn't get out . I had left my battery switch on in the boat and both were almost dead . Luckily she cranked over and off we went . The wind was blowing like crazy , 15 to 20 and blowing rollers in with the tide . Well , there goes our plans for heading out to the Sound . My boat can handle it but both Roger and I didn't really feel like taking a pounding today . We fished a few places where I've had good luck earlier in the year but I really think the majority of the bigger croaker have headed out of the river and out to the Sound and deeper waters . We still caught quite a few fish ,the biggest at 16" and didn't rate taking a picture . We caught alot of small catfish , I had real nice size catty that went about 3 or 4lbs but had a nasty sore on it's back . We also caught at least 5 eels , one a very big specimen . Roger caught a real pretty channel cat , the only one of the day . I kept about 15 or 20 croaker for my neighbors and a few to clean for dinner . Real shame we couldn't get to where we wanted to as a friend of Roger's spanked them pretty good yesterday and my friend Capt Chris Lesser got limits for all his customers last night and also caught a 38" and 41" Red Drum right off of Deal Island . The worst part of the day was burning up a trailer bearing on the way home . The thing got so hot smoke was pouring out ! Luckily a good samaritan behind us flagged us down . We limped back to my house and got the boat back in the driveway . I don't even want to look at it right now . Anyway , it was still nice to be on the water and get some pullage . Here is the only pic I took all day . This is the best looking croaker I've ever seen !:D Cute aint he ? http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u240/stromus/babycroaker.jpg Hey Cygnus ! Who says 1/0 hooks are too big for croaker ?
