In 2003 I was motivated by four grandchildrens desire to enjoy our sport to purchase some economical gear. The kind that would be no great loss. I purchased four Okuma Epixor 40 reels for $24.95 a pop and hung them on 3 types of Ugly Sticks. The bait used was fishbites bloodworms. Five years later the kids can't wait to go fishing and they all can spincast at least 25yds. In five years there has not been one failure of the epixors or rods. 21/2 years ago I walked into a K-Mart and they had 1175 yds of Mustad line for $1.00 a spool. I bought eight. 10-14 lbs. Don't know who makes it but we've never had a line break on a fish except when they've taken us into and around rocks. I've taken the kids setups to Louisiana and Florida. Have caught King Mac's, Reds, Trout and Small Tarpon. Locally, the euipment has handled up to 15 lb stripers. I'm sure there's a future failure coming but for $$$$ invested i've got 4 happy younguns! I would have no aversion to buying more Okuma gear. You don't have to spend alot to enjoy life along the water.:fishing:
