I'm looking for some opinions on the 12' Saltiga Surf (not the Ballistic). There seems to be a lot of information out there on the Ballistic paired with conventionals, but not nearly as much on the spinners.
I'm looking to throw 5-8 ozs., maybe a little more in a pinch.

I threw a couple when they first came out. Not as light and thin as the Ballistic, but they cast well and felt pretty beefy. I think it would be a tough rod to beat in that price range.

I have the 12' spinner, but mine is the 3-6oz model paired with a Daiwa Powersurf QD, It throws far with 3 oz! I really like it so far and will put it to use with just bait in 2 weeks, I have been throwing lures with it a Conowingo Dam. I have caught fish up to 34 inches so far and for the money and lifetime wartente. Hard to Beat

I believe there are two 12-footers--one for lighter use (6 or 7 oz.) and another that's for 8-10.
I'm still on the fence over what to get here--spinning choices are a little limited if you're looking for a decent rod.
And I'm still undecided on the reel to pair up with this rod. Shimano Baitrunners are great reels, but they weigh about 9,000 pounds.

The 2 spiiners in 12' I saw when I was getting mine....there was one that was rated 3-6 which is the one I have and then the other was rated 4-7.

The casting models use the same Fugi new concept guides found on the dual purpose Ballistics. There are more guides, but it would throw spinning fine if you wanted a heavier version.
