With all night Drum fishing season coming up, I thought it would be good to see what everyone took with them to the surf or pier as far as no hassle food with good food value (not potato chips or cheese crackers)

Here is my top 7 list: (and I am a Southerner)

1. Pickled Eggs,,,if you have never had one try one and they are easy to make at home...ask me and I will give you my recipe.

2. Home made pork, beef, deer jerky or dehydrated rope sausage.

3. Hot Pickled Okra, store bought or home made.

4. Roasted shelled and salted Sunflower kernels.

5. Boiled Peanuts:beer:

6. Sardines, cheddar cheese and saltine crackers.

7. Pickled green tomatoes

As you will notice,,,all of the above go good with beer.

They certainly do sound great but as far as going fishing and eating fish while your at it....:--| i never have been a big fan of doing that, i loose my appetite if i see fish and eat fish.

I usually keep it simple, pick up a couple pre-made sandwiches, vienna sausages, a block of sharp cheddar, and saltine crackers from the grocery. A bottle of cheese whiz comes in handy. Slim Jims as well.

I always eat a HUGE breakfast then try not to eat when fishing. Sometimes when I can't hold out I'll wind up eating some nasty junkfood, snickers and all that crapola. lol

I'd be interested in a pickled egg recipe, I'm spending too much buying em at the store.

Also add pickled herring.

Bloody rare roast beef with horse raddish.

Chocolate coated donuts or pop tarts.

Everything on your list .... yummy... also good for all day fishing too!!

Now I gotta go buy some pickled okra.

Cereal, dry, right out of the box; the crunchy granola kind or Capt' Crunch!

I usually get a bag of granola, gallon of water(sometimes sport drink as well), some fruit that is tough enough to roll around, and maybe a pb&j or two.
