I'm going on a little vacation to myrtle beach, and I'm looking to stop anywhere I can along the coast on the way. Where is my best chance to catch a king/cobia/tarpon? Thanks guys.

man O man, I'm just doing some research here. As a guy who has only fished vabeach I never even considered how much these guys can get away with charging to fish their piers. 18 bucks to pin rig 1 day in nags head. That's a travesty. It's 100 bucks a year for a season pass at vabeach pier.
I like catching fish, but not that badly.

use a 2 to 3 oz launcer casting float with live bait then you don't need the pin rig:popcorn:

Ocean Crest is one I'd recommend.

I've caught kings up to 12 lbs off the pier here on a Stradic 5000. As long as you have plenty of line to handle the first run, all is good.
