I grew up in Perquimanns NC, and there was a little drugstore in Hertford called Woodards. I used to always go there and get chocolate milkshakes. I haven't been there in years, but I still think that was the best shake I've had, or one of them anyway.

we all know the best milkshakes were at the skating rink when we were kids! I hear, however, the nastiest shakes are the McDonalds ones. They aren't even made with milk, they are made with chicken juice. Makes me happy that there aint any fast food within 45 miles of me!!!

I don't much care for McDonalds shakes either. A couple of years back, I got one at Hardees that was pretty good.
Chicken juice?!?! Hehehehe How in the world do you juice a chicken? Very carefully, I would imagine! :)
Of course, if it's one of those South Carolina fightin' chickens, you could gather it up after they've finished their SEC football schedule, I guess. :D
 Hey, my popcorn tastes like chicken. Must be the butter.
I'd have to say Hardees then for my vote, but I don't get shakes often.

I bet those are good.
I sort of agree with dogg, the best shake you will ever get is the one you make yourself. However hardees/carls jr does make a mean shake.

The best milkshakes in the whole world were in Chesapeake, Va. until a year ago. There was a little dairy farm called Bergeys Dairy that had a dairy store. Owned by a Mennonite family, you could buy fresh milk, cheese, eggs, etc. The milkshakes were made with their own ice cream of course and this stuff was so fresh, litterally hours before making the milkshake this stuff was still inside the cow!
All home made stuff that was unbelievable! Because they were so small, they had a really tough time with all the newer rules and regs put on them from the health dept., so they closed up shop after about 100 years or so farming that area. Sure hated to see that dairy store close.
Oh, and let's not mention the Egg Nog during the holiday season!:D

I forgot about Bergey's dairy!!! That was a few miles from my house. Ok, Bergey's Dairy, then Woodards Drug store...:)

For a quick fix - I am quite fond of the Arby's chocolate milkshake. They taste like a Wendy's frosty that you can actually drink.
Outside of that - the homemade versions are the way to go for sure.

Gotta go with the homemade. Own several operating vintage Hamilton BEACH (and various other brands) milkshake/malt mixers; though my dad is the grand pooba with over a hundred of them......would like to have that ameretto recipe myself.

Hardees used to use Hersheys ice cream which is similar to Deluxe that we have around here which imho makes the best milk shakes.
