Hello all,

I recently moved to Florida and I'm interested in
Surf Fishing.. I have never fished the surf before. But am a long time boat fisherman from LI,NY.

I'm desperate need of assistance from you Surf Guru's..

I'm looking for a Nice Rod/Reel setup to start with

within say $500-600 range..

Now most of my fishing will be from Cocoa Bch,fl
to Vero Bch, Fl.

I have no idea  what's running or what the best method is. whether it be bottom fishing, live bait, jigs or plugs..

So I'm thinking maybe a setup that could take it all on..

I've been reading up on Rod's and from what I gather Their are 2 that stand out for Surf Fishing.

RODS:

AFAW & Lamiglas.. However I may be wrong.. I have no issue's with having a Custom Rod made up.. As long as I know how it should be setup.

REEL:
IN the past ALL I've always used Bait-caster reels. But I now think that'll have to change.

I aware that there are many variables when requesting such information.. But I'm hoping that
someone in this area of Florida will stumble upon this post, and be able to fill me in and Help me out..

Thanks in Advance.
NFG

Welcome to P&S.

I have only been here a couple of months, but you will find a lot of excellent advice and support here.

If I were you, I would also post this message over on the Florida board as well.

Again, welcome. :)

As far as reels if your going for a spinning well then either a shimano thunnus, sustain or stradic; in your price range penn has no spinning reels but the spinnfisher has got to be one of the best for their price, those reels are tanks. Also a quantum cabo which if your interested ask ruddedogg hes the man with the cabos, he uses them for plugging i believe, right dogg? as far as rods go ask someone else ive got no imput on em, luck man.:fishing:
