That's what I understand also, but I just have to find a weight that will hold in that surf, LOL. Looks like we'll have a Cat I Hurricane directly off shore before it's all said and done. I've never really tried to cast into a 65mph wind. Should be interesting:D

Yup, that's where I live. It's a tower used by the beach patrol and lifeguards. Not sure what they use it for...but I have my suspicions there have been some tourists up there...especially during spring break:D

Yup...lotsa drum out there during certain times. Not a lot of structure though. It's a very gradual slope and all sand. Of course, Fay may change a lot of that. New Smyrna (just South of us) has about 2 1/2 - 3 ft beach erosion in places.

It was blowing 40kts here 2 weeks ago!! :-p I love watching weather reports. If you youtube "Katrina forecast" it is literally insane. Hearing the guys voice saying "wind gusts up to one hundred fifty miles per hour". Haha it's just wild!!

here is link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVAwJjnenLY&feature=related

check out about 1:54 into it!! That is just insane!!!!

High Tide...11AM, 8/20/08

It's coming up the beach ramp to the gate:

And a view from a little farther North:

It's now moving North towards us, so the next High Tide tonight should be even worse. At least it gives me something to occupy my time until this thing passes!!!:D In the meantime, I think I'll just !!! Maybe that will make me ignorant enough to try to fish in this, LOL!

That's actually one of the Beach Patrol Trucks. They are considered "Law Enforcement" here, but are friends with all the surfers and have a tendency to want to chase shark fishermen away!

Not sure how long the power, etc, will last, but hope it holds up!

Of course, you have to expect the inevitable when something like this goes on, so here's a pic of what just showed up in our parking lot, LOL!!!

I still love the way news reporters go nuts about 35mph winds. It blows that hard in a regular thunderstorm. Gotta love that "sensationalism"!!!

Remember during Katrina when the female reporter was sitting in the canoe talking about how bad the flooding was...and two guys walk past behind her showing the water was ankle deep?

"Bubble headed bleachblonde comes on at five...can tell you about the planecrash with a gleam in her eye...."

I just posted on the Florida forum under the thread "Sunglow Pier" if any of you are interested. It doesn't look good for this area. We are in the eye right now, but Flagler Beach is getting pounded. Sunglow lost some pilings. Expected to get 60MPH gusts later today when the storm starts to move again and the SW eye wall gets to us.
