Do you think that the problems in Russa had anything to do with Obama's choice in VP?
A lot of remarks I heard from the "professionals" on NBC4 said that same thing.

I think Obama realizes he doesn't have the experience to lead and picked a running mate who does and someone he can "milk" to make him appear to be more wise than he really is.

Is this the same as how Cheney improves Dubya's image?

I don't think the parallel is anywhere close, SnS. Hasn't Joe Biden spent more years in government than Cheney? I remember Biden being there during the Bork confirmation hearings, and he had been in there for some time before that (I haven't researched it, but I'd guess somewhere close to thirty years??). Cheney hasn't had that much experience as a party leader in Congress, has he? I mean, I don't know each man's pedigree, but Biden is at the very least a "likeable" kind-of-guy (agree or disagree with his politics) who has a reputation for speaking his mind. Cheney doesn't. I would think Biden will prove an asset to Obama's campaign.
/me thinks SnS is trying to be devil's advocate and stir the 'ole cauldron here. :)

If you think that a Plagiarist, liar, egotist, and bucket mouth might be a good VP.............have at it.
Sounds like Al Gore re-run to me. People are getting a little tired of it.

Yikes! Was this a thread about being who'd be a good Vice President?? I hope not. I thought it had to do with someone's choice of a running mate. I must have missed a meetin'. :)

Either way Biden could help or hurt Obama
I do like the pick personally

It seems like Caroline Kennedy was simply unable to find a running mate for Obama who had a thinner or more insignificent resume than he does, who wouldn't overshadow him, so they decided to go with "experience". Unlike the Bush Cheney comparison, Biden has proved time and time again that time served, or "experience" does not equal judgement. On the foreign relations committee, Biden's proved himself 100% wrong in his positions and statements at nearly every opportunuity during the past 30 years to the present. Biden is the smartest guy in the room-just ask him. He is a real dirt bag, one who can shake your hand firmly, look you in the eye, agree and smile, while he is twisting a knife in your back with the other hand. Just ask Clarence Thomas. Since Biden has been the head of the judiciary committee he has helped turn our judicial confirmation process from a careful, thoughtful, unbiased evaluation of the nominees' qualifications, into a half-assed partisan circus, which does nothing but practice the character assasination of their betters. Enough said. Obama is a sophmoric socialist, who can deliver a great speach from a teleprompter when it's written for him. Take away the script and he flounders. He has the great talent of being able to say nothing, and convince his audience that he's truly the new messiah. He is an empty suit with no significant accomplishments besides enriching himself and his wife, through questionable means, and Biden is a world class bloviator who couldn't get minimal support from his own party during his own previous presidential bids. Sorry for the rant, but that's how I see it. Hope and platitudes are not a policy, agenda, or roadmap to anything better.

Yeah I saw the video of Obama screwing up that speech when his teleprompter went out, makes you wonder just how well he'll really do when the public debates begin and he can't have pre-written material. If he didn't know what point he was supposed to make next, then thats a bad sign of things to come. I read about Biden and some of his voting results are interesting, look up his recent vote on credit card companies - he took the favor of the credit cards, two fairly evident reasons IMO: 1) almost all credit card companies are based out of Delaware, so reducing CC profits inevitably hurts Delaware, and 2) his son either used to work for or now works for MBNA/now Bank of America (based out of Delaware). We'll see how they turn out, hell the election is just a few months away.

Yep. And Republicans have done the same. It's all about consumerism, middle class purchasing power (btw that's dwindling these days), and investment in jobs (an almost dimimished objective with proper governance and Clinton and Bush are alike in these regards.)
MBNA's debacle goes back along way. Maryland National, back to an supermarket in Delware, first Mastercard issuer (yeah, go try and find that one you SS doubters... I did the accounting I know its a fact...) MBNA is a cash cow, and our Country has made it that.
Credit is the ultimate addiction for Americans. So much so that I applaude the Bush Admininstration with reigning in bankrupcy protection for those who spend capriciously.
Back to Biden... he started in a County Council seat and worked his way to where he is. Big danged deal... tell me you didn't start somewhere.
As to those who criticize the Obama chose a candidate that compliments his weaknesses... they are fools. For it is the same critic who would complain that Obama chose someone who is 'exactly' the same as Obama himself. Critics abound. Maybe those Hillary supporters will evaluate their position...and would that have been happy with Obama selecting Hillary as VP, or would they still complain....?
Who shall McCain chose? Will those who complain about Obama chosing a complimentary VP be consistent when McCain does the same??

This fool is chomping at the bit to see who McCain picks. I'm sure he/she will be a doozy!
But on the funny side of things, I really could care less.:p
People are going to vote for the guy who promises them the most hand outs. Thats just the way our "welfare state" union is heading these days. Too many US citizens want the Gov't to handle all thier problems.
There is, and always will be plenty of work for any healthy citizen, but the citizen has to be ready to adapt to the changing technologies and work markets. If you can find the time to go fishing, or BS on some chat forum,......then I guess you have the time to get training or attend classes to better yourself.

I'm glad you enjoyed the PM, kinda funny that you did.
The "according to you" comment is projection and how YOU re-position to appear as if you've not spoken the "hard right line." There may come to pass a time for reflection when the economy gets ever so difficult and impossible and then we'll loose the free time that we once spent on such incidentals as fishing and chatting on fishing forums... then I guess we'll all be in the "position" of "rightness" (or maybe we'd all be just a bunch of fools...)
So who shall McCain choose? Romney and he are like oil and water, Huckabee is too moderate, Colin Powell (that would be interesting), Condi (nahh), and what about Hillary (just for laughs)? Whadda ya think?

Where did I reposition myself ? I screw up phrasing all the time. I guess the Gov't is at fault for not contributing more funds for my education?;)
You claim that you are not a liberal, but you sure argue like one. You have yet to enter any argument on here without looking down your nose at any person who disagrees with you. Some nagging feeling in my gut tells me that you watch all the Michael Moore reruns. C'mon.............you can tell us. :)

It will be an interesting decision, especially since many dyed-in-the-wool Republicans are not completely "sold" on McCain, but will likely support him in the election, won't it? I don't know which direction he'll take.
I think I also gave off the wrong impression in an earlier post; I'd like to correct that. I have no use for Joe Biden whatsoever. He is an A-1 weasel, in my book. As a young college student, his "circuses" (aptly put by Blackbird) showed me in the case of Robert Bork that being highly qualified just does not matter in some instances. I was simply addressing the way Biden will be "spun" by the media in terms of his experience and demeanor (politics as an image game). If he opens his mouth too much, the Dems will absolutely be in deep doo-doo, imo. They will surely put a type of "gag order" on him. I mean, you'd think they'd learn eventually that this country isn't apt to vote left in a Presidential election.
SnS a lib?? Nah. He quotes Jefferson and distrusts centralization far too much to be what we know as "on the left" today. Of course, I don't know how to define a "hard right line" either. Come to think of it, I now realize I don't know much at all. :)
