Is there a cheap older version of this reel? Grey body that was Wal-Mart type reel. I know there was a CS cheap version, just wondering if there was a CT cheap version.

I wish there was there were only 7500cts made u can make a cheap 7000ct by taking the levelwind out and putting a conversion bar in and cutting off the top cross bar
I think there was a 7000C with bushings, levelwind, and red sideplates for around $60-80 a few years back.
I know there was a 7000C3 with bearings, levelwind, and burgandy sideplates for $70-90.. I have one of these converted to CT. Slower gear ratio, something like 4.1:1 than most of todays reels.
There might have been a 7000D version, levelwind and direct drive in the same price range.

That is a much older reel. They made some 6500's with the round CT cage as well. Ain't nothing cheap about those. Very good reels and they were not available thru the discount shops if memory serves me correctly.

Would not change the gears. Drag upgrade should be the same as the current series of 7000, with the exception there may one less washer in the stack.
i remember the older factory round bars had an issue with warping under alot of stress.
