We just kicked the snot out of the Eagles, especially as an underdog. We kicked the Do Do out of the Cowgirls last week. We are going to the Super Bowl. Cant wait for the Giants to come to DC...

As a long-time Dallas fan, this entire "Redskins are good" situation does not make me happy for obvious reasons. I prefer to see them sitting at about 5-11 at the end of the season bearing the brunt of my "Foreskins" jokes. Ha Ha
However, I will give credit where credit is due. And credit is due to the Skins for two great wins. They whipped Dallas up front on the LOS last week - WHIPPED - and they deserved to win that game. Apparently, they did the same today. Four of the six or seven best teams in the league right now might very well be in the East (where they belong).
As we all know, it's a long season, and a lot can happen, so I wouldn't go counting on a SB just yet. :) At this point, however, it would appear that Zorn is well "ahead of the curve" and that the Skins might have a special year. Some of my friends who pull their skins - er, pull for the Skins - were very skeptical about Zorn and they were getting impatient with Campbell. Maybe the chemistry is there.
I hope this doesn't turn into a thread where I'm a one-legged man in an a$$-kicking contest. Hopefully, CDog, Rudde, or Hat will jump in if I get pounced on. :D

Guys guys hold on now. Clyde is right. We win a couple games and now we are in the Super Bowl. Three weeks ago Dallas was the sure thing for the Super Bowl. The only thing we should be thinking about is the next game. Yes we have caught some teams off gaurd but that won't be the case the rest of the way.
Yes we should celebrate beating the girls in Texas and the eagles in Philly but we still got a long way to go.
After saying that it still is a great day to be a Skins fan. :):):)

The Bengals just about embarrased the Cowgirls. Really close, especially at Dallas home court. In other words--the Bengals STINK this year, and they almost.....What is going to happen to Dallas when the Giants get a hold of them??????
Life is sweet, at this time.....

I believe the next 3 opponents for Washington have a record of something like Won--1 Lost --11, or something close to this. Can you believe a 7-1 record at the halfway mark??
Fishbreath
10-06-2008, 04:47 PM
That record is very deceptive.
Don't like going to Detroit anytime...just remember Turkey Day.
Worried about Cleveland, B. Edwards is still playing and Derek Anderson runs hot and cold...you never know
Rams, well they suck but the team may play better for Haslett. We'll see...

Outside of the Giants, and the Cowboys, name ONE other team that deserves to be mentioned AT THIS TIME, for NFC consideration for the Super Bowl, besides the Redskins????
Just One and Why, based on what??????

Super Bowl "consideration" after Week 5?! Any of them at 2-3 or better, I would say, steve. A couple of torn ACL's here or other injuries there. Anything can happen. Where were the Giants at this time last year? Did anyone in early November even give them a shot, except for the true Giants fans? Look at what they did. Carolina maybe?

dont forget last year lions started out 6-0 and didnt make the playoffs
and the Giants last year lost there 1st 2 games
The more hype you bring up the better of a chance for a let down :)
Go Giants!!!

I will ask it again. Where were all the cowgirl fans, in the DC area, one day after they got blown out by the Skins?? Why did they NOT call in on ALL the DC sport shows on the radio. They sure ran their mouths all week leading up to the game, but miracuoulsy, they all seem to have dissappeared.
Can someone out there who supports the Star, please explain this turn-a-round?? Where did YOU ALL GO, and WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY????????

That's right. But those wins on the road at Dallas and Philly are HUGE for you guys. HUGE. Clearly, the Skins have that "sense of urgency" already. If I were a Skins fan, I would hope it continues.

Hey Steve, well I support the star, but I don't live in the DC area or call into sports shows. What are they supposed to say after the game? Why would they call in talking smack after a loss? There are too many "expert" offensive and defensive coordinators (who have never coached) who call those shows for me to pay much attention to them. :D I find it much worse on local-based shows dealing with high school or college athletics, where fans don't really know how kids have practiced all week or the things they struggle with, yet these same fans question playcalling, schemes, and the like. I wouldn't let them get you worked up. :)
I sure hope Dallas can get Washington the next time around. I am 41 and have been a Cowboys fan my entire life. I am a distant relative of Lee Roy Jordan through marriage, and a girl I went to school with was Ernie Stautner's neice. Stautner, who coached on Landry's staff for many years, used to visit my elementary school fairly frequently; one time (I think we were in third grade) he brought Robert Newhouse with him and we had our pictures made with him. Honestly, I've never pulled for another team. A loss here and there doesn't get me nearly as worked up as they used to.:)
That said, my observations of Dallas the past couple of weeks is that the defense isn't "up to snuff." Ratliffe and Ware are playing their hearts out, but I think Ellis is probably an even better player than he's showing. I've been disappointed with the play of the DB's, too. That is why Cincy was able to stay in that game. If Dallas isn't careful, there'll be a lot of teams "hanging around at the end" that are likely to drop a big L on them. They're going to have to put teams away. The problem may well be chemistry. And I will say AT THIS TIME that the Giants or the Skins sure seem to have that chemistry going. Hopefully, it'll turn around.
If the Skins win the East, I hope Dallas makes it as a Wild Card. NOTHING would make me happier than to beat them in an NFC Championship game in DC! I might even don a hog nose, play some Nine Inch Nails, "Hey Pig Piggy Pig Pig Pig" and dance a merry jig in front of the TV. That'd be a sight. :D:D:D

Sheesh- how does a win by 2 points amount to a "blow out" ???
If the skins would have lost by that amount you would have said it was "a close one".
Will grant the skins look good, but are not dominating (neither is Dallas) at the moment. The Giants are playing with a confidence they didn't have most of last year (to be expected). Will see what things look like in a few more weeks.

YES. They were bigger than we were! :) I always thought he, Czonk, Riggins, and Blier were among the absolute "toughest" runners of that generation. In terms of yardage, I guess Newhouse was the least productive of the bunch, but they were some GOOD ONES. My dad did and does have "split" loyalty between Dallas and Miami, and he absolutely loved Shula and Czonka. :) I'm not much of an AFC fan, but the Fins are doing better than I thought they would this year so far.
