Good one, sprts! Before we teed off a few weeks ago, the guy in the pro shop told us they had fertilized the greens. He said, "So don't be licking balls or putting them in your mouth to clean them off." Poor Barney!

Any good courses around Kingsport? I have been there a few times delivering loads, but never asked any of the locals.

Yeah, there are many many within a "few miles" radius. The one there at the Marriott (Cattails at MeadowView - public) is popular right there in Kingsport off the I-26 Exit. The back 9 is very scenic and challenging, but it's a little pricey for me (I think it went up to $48 w/cart for 18 - I can't do that). Ridgefields CC (private) is down along the Holston River (still in Kingsport). It's challenging, also (bermuda greens), and was designed to benefit players who can play a controlled 210-240-yard draw. That would not be me. :) I have trouble scoring there, even when I have been playing regularly and feel like taking on the challenge. A few miles southwest of Kingsport (on the road to Greeneville - just off I-81) is Graysburg Hills, a 27-hole Rees Jones design. It's (my opinion) the nicest public course (4* Golf Digest). I think it's $35 through the week for 18 w/cart. Up in Abingdon, VA is Glenrochie CC (my favorite private course). I get on up there a couple of times a year as someone's guest. Currently, I am a member at Scott County Park (over in Virginia). It's your typical "gotta know how to hit the knoll and make it roll" mountain course, but the greens are excellent year-round. Also, yearly membership there is $350 (county owns course); at less than $30 a month, that's where I play. :D I can stop by and walk a few holes when I want, or they charge members $4 for every 9-hole cart fee. That's right in my budget and a decent, uncrowded course to boot!
