Can anyone tell me the difference between the Saltiga 30T and the Saltiga 30Z?
Also are the Saltigas jigging reels or can they also be used for light to medium duty trolling/
Thanks.

That should read "Z30"

One difference is is the gear ratio 4.9:1 for the 30T and the Z30 is 5.4:1. Suspect the drag maximum may be different as well.

I did some investigating last night and came up with these conclusions.
The width of the spool is different... the Z30 being narrower. The Z30 is also said to be a casting reel whereas the 30T has a wider spool and is probably more suitable for trolling. I suppose the narrow spool of the Z30 lets the line pass through the eyes of the rod without causing drag along the sides of the eyes.
Of the two, I lean toward the Z30 because its more versatile. I could use it for bottom fishing, trolling and surf.

Yes they can be used for light trolling. I use a 30 and a 40 for jigging and trolling.
I have used the 40 for surf casting but it gets heavy fast. I use the 30T for surf casting too. Good reel for just about any thing. Jigging IMHO it needs more drag but other then that for the money it does it all.

I think the 30h is a Saltist model whereas the Z30 is a Saltiga.

A little refinement: The "T" in the 30T stands for "Tall". Both reels are tall and have the narrow spools as compared to the SA30 which has the wider low profile reel.. The 30T is a precision reel made in Japan for the export market while the Z30 is made in Japan for their domestic market and is referred to as a "Japan Reel". The internals of the two reels are slightly different because the Japanese style of jigging is more mechanical.
