My mouth is numb

So i went to the dentist yesterday. I had a partial root canal done and i now have to take antibiotics for 10 days cause my nerve is infected. I have to go back in 2 weeks to finish. Here is my question, i got a nice dosage of novacain and the right side of my mouth is still numb. Its been over 24hrs. After reading online, some people have had numbness for weeks after root canals. Has anybody experienced this? This sucks cause i keep biting my lip when i eat.:mad:

If you are in Olney, as in Va., then that would be tooth, and not teeth! Kidding of course. Tomorrow my oldest son gets 4 wisdom teeth cut out! OUCH! I can only imagine the amount of novacaine they'll hit him with.

As for your numbness, I've had it last almost two full days, and if it goes on beyond that, call your dentist!

sometimes people have a reaction to anesthesia.
it only happens 1 in 100,000.
some paralysis or something.

did you ask your doctor about it?

Hey GS,

When my wife had a root canal, her numbness lasted a couple of days. I have also heard of problems from the anasthesia. Like Jeep said, I'd give it a couple of full days and see. Jeep, I hope your son comes through that okay with the wisdom teeth. My oldest got dry sockets when she had hers out. BIG OUCH!
