Ive got this penn sargus and well the only thing about it is that the handle has some play. I mean its not loose its fine but the thing is when i reel in it feels as if its not that smooth but it is, how do i tighten the handle? it doesnt have a little thing to use a screwdriver on so i really dont know what to do! Can i even do anything about it? Its no biggy but still, im very picky about my reels!

you could try holding the bail with one hand, and turn the handle with the other.

It's simple advice, but that's all I could tell you as well. I'm sure you've already tried that though. I would imagine you're having problems with the handle itself, and I couldn't help you with that. I don't own a sargus, but I love the penn spinning reels I do own.

Sorry i might have not explained myself enough but what i meant was not the handle itself i meant the handle knob, you know the part you hold, the one that turns, not the long part the one thats like a rubberlike material, am i explaining myself?

Ok, you're strictly talking about the knob. I'm not sure what to tell you about that. Does it have so much play that it feels like it's going to fall off, or what? I've never really had a problem with the knobs on my penns. I went out and grabbed a couple to see if I might be able to help out, but I can't help you. Somebody will be able to though. It can't be but so hard, they sell replacement knobs for these things, so there is an easy fix. Wish I could give you some advice.

if you have the 5000 or 6000, you could pop the little metal oval off in the handle and there should be a screw under it. if its smaller than the 5000, i dont know:confused:

i dont have one, but i did stay at a holliday in express last night;)but seriously
that is usually how they are put together, you have to pry the oval out with something small. but if its glued, dont fool with it. just take it slow and see what happens.

i am no expert, thats just how i would do it.

"For further information on PENN Repair Service
call 215-229-9415 extension 181.
Our repair service coordinator will be happy to
answer your questions."

Tell them your problem and see what they say.

If the reel is fairly new it should be under warranty.

A phone call is cheap, cheaper than messing with the reel and maybe voiding your warranty.
