Anybody had them? I got one today in my SI joint in my lower back. Wasn't a very pleasant experience, and it hasn't done much yet to stop any pain. I've read it can take from 48 to 72 hours for any real relief to show up. Just wondering what any others had experienced.

I use to get them for my back also, until I found out they can cause you to loose your hair. They really never seemed to help me that much anyway.
So I just had them prescribe me 800 mg Ibuprofen. DO NOT TRY TO TAKE 800 MG's OF OVER THE COUNTER STUFF. IT WILL MAKE YOU SICK.

I've had a bunch of them in my shoulder and in the spine... the shoulder did little to help the problem... the ones in the spine, the first was the most effective, after that the 2nd and 3rd were less effective... the first one relieved the pain for prolly 3 weeks, then nothing... it'll never happen again...
always hated the way it made me feel like I was gonna drop a duece in my drawers... :D

the prescription stuff had me passing blood in 3 days... now I take 800mg of the OTC at least once if not 2 times a day and once in a while 3 times... just depends on how strong the high pressure system is thats coming in...

Yep me to. Both shoulders, elbows and knees. Really glad I played ball back in high school. Thought I was the stuff being a down lineman. Every time I get on of those shots it brings back fond memories......:rolleyes:

I get um in my shoulder. The first one did so much good that I finished what I started with the injury. Now they after surgury and therepy they do very little. I take 800mg of Motron at a time and it does better than anything else. No it ain't good for your guts but it's better than the pain. Just be careful with them shots, if you do get one that makes you feel great remember the reason you got it and don't over do it.

I've has cortisone in my shoulder and it seemed to do its job pretty well. The Dr. explained to me that cortisone is a steroid, and steroids were initially developed as anti-inflamitories. So what I was doing to inflame my shoulder was stopped and along with the shot , did the trick. What I've found now that does the job is Naprosin (aleve) type meds. NSAIDS as a groupdo o.k., but the naprosin I get from Sams Club helps the most. As for a back... I don't even want to think about that!

Wife took a series of shots (twice) for her hip and they did nothing. She is going in for hip replacement in a couple months.

Tried the cortisone for my shoulder, but it took surgery.
If you have not tried Naproxen (Aleve), try it first. It worked like magic for my back.

Got one under my kneecap, never again- not worth it IMO.

Yeah I'm kinda going that route myself. It's been three days, and it feels like I have a knot where the injection was. It has helped the pain a very tiny bit, but it really just feels like the pain moved over to my hip instead of the SI joint.

I used to get them in my wrist when I was in High school. I hated them and I hated the icey freeze (or w/e its called) that they would numb the wrist with before the injection. Finally I stopped going and decided to just deal with the tenidinitis (sp) issue.

I've had quite a few in college/post-college while pitching. Results were temporary at best. I guess it would depend on your level of pain. It also makes the tendons/muscles in the area weaker so continued/overuse can be counterproductive and lead to bigger issues.

I had a steroid shot in my back for a prolapsed disk once. Never again, whatever steroid they used hurt worse than the injury and the actual shot.

I have had a few in my knee (ya know the one the doc said next time he see's me he wil replace everything cause there is nothing left to fix )
Well the last one I had my doc did a little trick to make it not hurt so bad, I sat on the edge of the bed with my leg hanging over and he pulled down on my caff while sticking the neddle in the joint ,,, amazed it did help it from not hurting quite so bad. Now they are saying they have a new thing but ya have to take 5 shots over 5 days or something like that (back to )
Just when ya think everything is going better,, walked down the steps on my deck a few days ago and the knee went out and backwards I went ,, thought I had broken the arm and cracked some ribs (and no I didn't have anything to drink) thank goodness I hit the meaty part of my forearm and my fat saved the rest :D back to the knee brace
