Ditto on the Marines!!!!!!!!!
I rode amphibious ships for alot of my career. I always enjoyed it when the marines were onboard, they always livened up the ship during what ever float we were doing. I miss them all.

If the Army or the Navy were to look at heavens skies they would find the streets gaurded by U.S. Marines.
Its been so long I almost forgot the words
Happy Birthday.

You can't be forgetting that JC...
"From the Halls of Montezuma
To the Shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
of United States Marine.
Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in ev'ry clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job--
The United States Marines.
Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines. "
;)
I must have sang that song a hundred times in boot camp from falling of that damn rope over the water pit on the confidence course. Wasn't accidental though. South Carolina is hot as a two dollar pistol from June to August.

I was in reserves and spent bootcamp in San Diego and Camp Matthews a century ago.

A lot of heated debates about who had the hardest boot camp....All I know was... I survived Hell on earth!
....Paris Island where the sand fleas ( biting flies ) made you a stand straight and sweating in the PIT was like a day on the beach....

Yeah I think either side still has it rough. The Grim Reaper and Mount MF'er out there are no joke.
My favorite part of the pit was standing there dripping in sweat and throwing handfuls of sand in the air. Our DI's said we were making sugar cookies. :rolleyes: Demented SOB's they were.

Our DI's made us eat the sand in the pit 'cause we complained that we did not have enough time to eat chow....that was in 4th phase.....
They made us put the sand in our mouths and chew....fortunatley they did say," swallow"....
I sorta missed those games....NOT!

I was 150lbs dripping wet and they assigned me to a BAR.
I got out of the reserves and went into the army and when all of the recruits were lined up being assigned to basic companies they saw my record and told me to fall out they did not know why I was sent there. I spent the next two months helping push rookies. Man some of the things that they would come up with.
