They are just awesome to catch. dancing and jumping across the top of the water. I equate it to like a marlin jumping and dancing but with a nasty set of teeth.

I've never caught a mako, but I can definitely vouch for their speed. Earlier this year while tuna fishing out of VA on my buddy's boat, we had one sky out of the water tearing up the spread on the port side of the boat. The makos whole body was out of the water, and there had to have been at least 6 feet of air between him and the surface! In what seemed like no time at all, he took out the long and short rigger on the port side!!! Pretty expensive bite. There is still nothing like seeing a 500 lb Blue Marlin get air 100 yards behind the boat!!
