Alright fellas, my best friend is going back up to NYC for some more work on a tattoo he's been working on. He's offered to pay my way, so I told him I'd go. I always like road trips!!! Anyway, all I know is we'll be staying across the bridge in NJ, and he'll be having 6 hours or better worth of tattoo work done in the Bronx. I wish I could go fishing up there, but, it's not me paying for the trip, he is. Basically I'm looking for something fun to do while he's getting his work done. I've never been to NYC, so any advice would be good. He's been fortunate enough to travel all over the country having tattoo work done, so this is sort of an every day trip for him. The only place I've been up north is Atlantic City, so any info. on places to go in the Bronx for a few hours would be good.

Ride the subway around town. Don't forget to hit some of the nice bakeries for the best bagels you'll ever eat.

its hard to get everything you want to do in just a few hours. hopefully you guys can stay a day or two and make your trip worth it. gotta hit one of the old pizza joints. statue of liberty, times square, central park, Greenwich Village, museums, chinatown, fulton fish market http://www.newfultonfishmarket.com/ (not sure about access), this is just a short list from what i recall so im sure others have better ideas.
this might help : http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct/maps/

my parents took us up there years ago and im dying to get back for a few days. have fun.

Take the subway to 112th and Broadway and get your picture taken in front of Tom's Restaurant, the outside of which was the one seen in Seinfeld. If you're a fan.....

Egg bagel with cream cheese and locks.....deee-lish!!!

You'll never eat a better pizza than a NY slice.....the hole in the wall joints are usually the best eateries.

Don't act like a touron and don't flash any bling or cash....use a lot of common sense.

I'll show ya a scar I got from the Brooklyn subway when I wouldn't give up my new shoes to a buncha HS punks from a rival school. I love NY!

Just hit a cab and go down to Times Square. Pretty impressive place. From there you can go to Broadway, etc by walking. Grab a cab and hit some place like Central Park and FAO Shwartz (sp). That's the famous toy store that has the walk on piano from the movie Big. Everything down there should be decorated in preperation for Xmas. Cool site.

Bring a good bit of cash with you. Cab rides can add up and EVERYTHING in downtown is expensive.

Yeah, I won't be acting too much like a touron I hope. I don't really have any cash or bling. I've got a decent watch, and I was thinking about taking my video camera. I hope no crack head tries to take my stuff, god bless them, I'll have an awful big surprise for them.

I'd really like to do that Lipyourown. I just don't know where to go or what to use. I was hoping one of the NYC boys would throw out some advice for me. I guess it wouldn't hurt to take a plugging rod and a couple of my striper plugs. Honestly, I'd rather grab some pizza and throw plugs for a few hours than ride all over the city looking at crap. If any of you NYC fishermen have some advice, it would be much appreciated.

I don't know Kooler, I've seen some fishing shows about fishing NYC, and they catch some big bluefish and striper. I obviously won't be eating the fish I catch. It would be something fun to do for a few hours if I knew where to go and what to use. Also, I don't know if this is the right time of year to fish up there.

I doubt I'll end up fishing. With only a matter of hours to burn, and not knowing a thing about fishing up there, I'll probably just walk around or whatever. I won't be spending a lot of money, so there probably won't be much I can do. I have to save my money for striper season!!:D

I had a 5 hour session done one time, felt like my arm had been skinned, packed in salt and wrapped up with vinegar soaked rags.

Yeah, when he has to travel a good distance to have a certain kind of work done, he usually tries to have as much done as possible. I don't even have one tattoo. I doubt I'll ever get any, but the work he's had done looks really good. He's not hurting for money, so I guess he can afford it, but I couldn't bring myself to put all that money in tattoos. He's had around $40,000 worth of work done so far:eek:. Hell, if it were me I would have bought a boat and a truck!!!! I guess it's all about what you like to do.

Funny as hell...............................did 20+ years in the Navy and never got a tattoo.

Within 6 months of my retirement, my wife and both kids had one.

My son was recently graduated high school, my daughter was in college, and the wife went out on the town with both of them, and came home with one on her butt.

LOL
