I start my Maryland Unemployment comp this week. Still very tough being unemployed at 57. Trying to put the crap, the way it was handled behind me. Thank you All, I got alot of PM from alot of P and S members.

One of the major reasons our economy is in a deep mess, is because of the housing crisis. I have sold real estate full time for 36 years. The last 12 working for builders selling new homes. The last 3 years, no one is buying, and tremendous numbers of sales people, and more production people have been laid off, then I can ever remember. Yes, some years are good for the reps, some years are terrible. I have no clue what I will do, until this depression is over with. Will try to say positive, and slowly get back on line here..

Thanks again, for all of your kind thoughts. Stay employed everyone...A new food thread is coming sooooooon........Steve Grossman

Steve, so sorry to here about your termination. My industry is going through major cuts as well. It has all of us a little on edge. Just a word of encouragement, keep your head high, you can better see whats coming if your looking over the hood than at the road directly in front of you, and never look in the mirror!
Remember one thing, I always tell people, you were born with the same God given tools that all man was. We (the human race) are survivors, and you will survive! Don't let your age deter you either. You can do anything you set your mind on!
Keep your faith, and lean on it;)

We are all here for you when you need a shoulder!

GOOD LUCK!!

I have a lot of guilt, being on Maryland unemployment. You kind of feel useless, when the grim reaper comes a calling. Believe me, I am not looking for sympathy, I just want to feel better inside, so that I can move on to the next step. I know we all have crap going on in our lives, with our children, parents spouse etc, but a man who is not working, well its a unique feeling of what did I do to deserve this, and where do I go from here.

I am seriously thinking of doing volunteer work, until the ship comes in. Again, thank you P and S. We all need a little love at different times in our lives, no matter how tough, and bad we think we are mentally and phsically. Steve

Don't feel guilty my man. You have paid your dues for over 40 years. You are just a victim of all this s#%& the greedy bast#$ds in this country have created.
It's those feelings that will drive you to move forward. Like I sad before, HEAD HIGH and LOOK FORWARD!

Do be ashamed to collect that unemployment. Collect it as long as you need it I am sure you paid in your fair share. Down here in SE VA it is only about 250 or so maxed out from what I recall. That would be a little hard to say the least to just get by. Hopefully yours will be more in Md. I know Pa is up there pretty good. Since your a real estate agent what are your thoughts on the market for the next 0-12 mths. Do you think home values will rise fall stay the same etc? Do you have any insight concerning our real estate market here in Virginia Beach? I am asking because I am a potential buyer down here looking in the 2000-3000sf range. I already have my current home almost free and clear but looking for something bigger and nicer. We have made national news lately with various articles about VB real estate. I was just wondering your perspective considering you have all that experience. I know it depends on localities and varies greatly.
