Tie bucktails/flies. Sell a lot of freshwater panfish jigs. Go fishing when nothing is biting just to be fishing. And let's not forget hunting.

Golf and woodworking.

But there is really no need to shut down in this area. Theres plenty of fishing in the backwaters all winter long. I guess it helps to have a kayak or some type of skiff though.

Yep shouldnt have posted this lol. No but i am really limited to fishing. I can really only fish LIP (Sandbridge pier) year round untill i get my license next year and well last year i did fish it year round and well im guna try and ween myself from it this year because all i did was sit out their by myself and catch cold and come home freezin my but off. Ill have a yak by summer so next year will hopefully be a better fishing winter for me!

If you guys have a spot that will produce that is arround the SB area let me know so i can fish all winter.

Annual tear down, cleaning, drag replacement, and lubing all of the reels I use throughout the year. Dusting/cleaning all the antique wall hangers on the walls of my sanctum sanctorum (used to be a home office before I retired!:D). Also, waste a lot of money buying stuff I probably don't need attending all the fishermen's fleamarkets withing 50/60 miles from my home. And, best of all, freeze my butt off on the year round head boats chasing those delicious cold water fish which are in Jersey waters in the winter.
Of course, the "off season" is also that time of year when I catch up on all the "honey do" projects which my bride of 40 years has laid out for me which didn't get done because the "fish were running"!

We are not even close to the off season yet. We will be fishing all the way up to the end of January. Really one of our best times to fish is coming up for striper. The colder it gets the bigger the striper run will be going south.

There is no off season for FW... There are good places to catch fish all 12 months.

Right now, the Striper and Walleye action is just getting going on Lake Anna, and warm winter days mean that I will be nailing tasty Yellow Perch. Not to mention my secret winter saltwater spots...

I have never fished that Lake, but have fished the Smith River several times. Good Trout river, just be careful when they start releasing water.

last time was 2000 nice little lake. We also stayed in the cabins. Can't remember the cabin #, but the lake was like 20 feet from the door.

I had a small boat with me and fished by the dam and along the shores. There is a nice drop off area/point to the right of the dam. There is also a nice cove to the right of the dam.

Am not a big FW bass fisherman, so I didn't have a lot of lures; but did catch some fish on Rapala's and Rat-L-Traps.

Good Luck.
