What does everyone use when surf fishing for Pompano spinning or casting style with good bite detection New to Forum Stan Lockhart

I like spinning since it's easier to cast light weights farther. I use 7-9' cheap spinning rods that have a good light tip. Most any will work, you don't need to buy a $100 rod for pomps/whiting.

Welcome to P&S...like smoothlures said...a low price rod& reel set up..(like a shakesphere)should do fine for starters...reel should have at least 10lb test and hold about 220yds of 10 or 12 lb test....8 ft rod should do and a shock leader added:fishing:
