Try tying on a 50lb mono shock leader and wrap it around the post of the cannon 3 times.

tried that but didnt like the mono,kept breaking or the knot would hang slightly on the way out and rip my bait off!!!!

Are you supposed to wrap the line around the post more than once???????
Geezzz now im felling dumb!!

NO....you don't wrap the line around...you just put it over the button ( or whatever you call it ) and hold the trigger till your ready to release it....it shouldn't slip out unless the post is bent or maybe the trigger has a dent in it...hope this helps alittle:fishing:

I quit using mine because I couldn't get the timing of the release down pat and it did catch a few times..4 to 5 oz sinker getting hung up was too dangerous....I was and still am guilty of trying for distance before getting the otg cast down pat.....

I plan on getting a finger tip next year for the burns or cuts until I get the cast smooth. good luck

If your talking about the Breakaway triggers, I bought two,,,not real happy with them,,,put them back in the "maybe" latter box.

Kept snagging, breaking line....

Do your self a favor, go to Lowe's, HQ, Walmart, etc and buy a pair of those $5.95 work gloves with the blue rubberized fingers and the elastic backs.

For summer, cut off all fingers of the glove except the right of left index finger depending on if your left or right handed. For winter leave all the fingers intack.

Works like a charm, wont cut your fingers and you will cast with more confidence knowing you aren't going to slice your finger off..

Load the rod, let her rip:fishing::cool:

Yeah fireline...I was talking about the breakaway trigger...yeah...maybe latter box....I think its alittle overpriced for what it is but I've wasted my money on worse..:)

yea, id say go get yourself a couple pairs of fishing glove, and if you wanna go fishin before you get a chance to go get some, take some duct tape or medical tape and wrap it around your index finger and you should be good to go :fishing:

in my opinion,for power casting heavy weight(5 ozs and more)nothing works as well as the cannon.
no gloves,not leather finger tips,not tape
3 wraps around capstan and you won't get slippage even with otg.
am using braid with braid shocker and am throwing in the 200 yd range with no problems at all.
a big plus is that you don't have to fiddle with the drag when fishing.

I love using the Breakaway Canon with braid and spinning reels.
It takes a little practice but once you got it down its easy as pie.
I used to use all kinds of tapes and gloves,finger-tip protectors. Threw all that out.
Even blitz fishing and nightime is second nature now.
I always wrap braid 4, 5 and even 6 (some- )times around the pin.
I have switched to Suffix braid and love it (50 & 65 lb. test).

Glad it worked out baitfish13, like chumbucket said, the more you use it the easier it gets. I've been using the cannon with mono for many years, but sounds like I should try it with the braided stuff.:fishing:

Good Luck!!

Ok;

I may bring the two I have out of the "maybe latter" box and try them again.

But clarify to me what you mean by 3-4 wraps around the capstan,,,,do you mean the post that and not the trigger,,,,\

I am confused:confused::confused::confused:
