I saw a few of those type planes when I went to the USS Alabama monument park in Mobile when working down there a couple of years ago. Corse after Katrina they were not in the best of shape.

Man I absolutely love WWII aircraft. When I was a kid, my grandfather, who was in WWII, had a book of fighter and bomber planes, (black and white action photos). I had this romantic Idea of war back then, and couldn't get enough of those old planes. Back then, my fav was the p-40 flying tiger, but if you've ever heard the sound of a p-51 supercharged, BAD A$$ nothing like it. And the B-17s are so cool. If all that was that close to my house, the family would probably never see me!!

Thanks Dogg, brought back memories.
