Did anybody else see that Bristol Palin interview? I couldn't sleep for some reason last night, and I caught her interview with Greta Van Susteren.
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!
Dumbest girl of all time!!! I can't believe they let her go on camera!!!:D I hope not all of the young people coming up are that stupid, otherwise we're all doomed. Later in the interview Sarah Palin showed up out of the blue holding Bristol's baby.... It was hilarious!! You could tell she knew her daughter was making a fool of the Palin name, not saying Sarah needed any help with that. I don't think Bristol has the skills needed to tie her shoe laces, forget raising a baby. At least Sarah mentioned it was mainly other friends and family raising the baby... It would be really scary if they actually let this girl Bristol take on the primary parenting role. Sarah kind of broke up the interview and started talking about other issues....... What did you guys think of the interview. I caught it this morning in the early AM, but I don't know when it originally aired.

I don't care what anybody says, this chick is dirt dumb! I'm looking at the interview again, and just realized she is 18, which makes her look that much worse. I thought she was 15 or 16. Hell, my sister had her first kid at 20 and has had no problem raising her kids. No help from any grandma or any aunts!!! Just her and her husband. Then again, my sis is an out right genius compared to this one.

Funny. To me she sounded like an average 18 yr old girl. Fact is, your little ego boosting diatribe actually sounds MUCH dumber then she did. Out of curiosity, why so much hatred for an 18 yr old girl? Did she run over your puppy or something? Or do you just get off on denigrating teenagers in a vain attempt to comfort yourself for your own failings? I'm sure (he said sarcastically) that if you were being interviewed by Sustern you would have come across as a veritable genius; why, surely every viewer would sit transfixed by the pearls of wisdom dripping off your honeyed and poetic tongue as the very angelic host of Heaven itself sang forth the final trump in honor of your erudite sagicity! Or, to put it succinctly, those who live in glass houses shouldn't cast stones.

I gotta agree with Wolfva. She sounded like a normal teenager. If you ever converse with one (teenager) about something you'll realize that there must be some sort of connection before the conversation flows. I believe that they don't trust adults. Think back to your teen years. I know I gave information as needed. I wonder if that sounds familiar??

Well......let me dive off the deep end here.
Bristol Palin = 18 years old /daughter of Sarah Palin = Vice President candidate from the previous primary.
Sarah Palin = Govenor of Alaska = pro-life / Republican / conservative / IMHO more icing than cake. Plans on running for President.
With the specifics out of the way.....
How did a 16 year old girl get pregnant while being a daughter to prominent politician? Were were the family values? Talks of abstinence prior to doing the 'wild thing'? Contraceptive?
Teen pregnancy happens every day. But with the high horse that Sarah Palin sits on, you could never believe it could happen to her family. I remember going to HS school with mature acting 18 and and 18 year olds stuck in 10 year old minds. But 18 is still 18. You have not been nor experienced what a 36 or a 26 year old has experience. You are only as old as you let your mind lets you be. In this interview, Bristol struck me as the latter -> thus the comparisons provided in a few post.
You are what you are because of the parenting provided to you. What does a 16 year old mom.., not even wed before pregnancy tell you about Palin parenting. This would not be an issue if her mom ( a prominent political figuire ) was throwing stones at glass houses at debates and primary's. Let's just say the apple does not fall far from the tree.
I truly hope that Sarah Palin never wins a Republican Primary nor even nominated.

If we teach them in the way they should go we expect them to follow our lead:D
I have three daughters. I pray that I have provided them with the guidance to make the right choices. I have expressed to them how disappointed I would be if they even dated before 30:D:D:D Thats just the kind of Dad I am. I know that their mom has the boy talks with them. My oldest (21) has even brought a couple of em home. They left with their tails between their legs. Not because I did anything overt..............but they couldn't hang with the adult conversations we usually have at dinner. After one meal my daughter actually called one of em a scrub.......because he didn't have a real plan for his future.
That being said I agree that something aint right at the Palin household:rolleyes::rolleyes:
I agree with the last statement of your post Nserch4Drum with whole hearted abandone:D:beer::beer::beer:

She definitely sounded like a typical and I mean typical 17 or 18 year old sheltered teenager who is overwhelmed by all the fuss and events surrounding her changed life and her mom's political aspirations. Oh yeah, she has lots of growing up to do but again, she is barely 18 and now a mom. That is sobering. She made a very true clear statement, she wishes it happened when she was 10 years older than now.
On another note, Greta van Sustern in line for seconds on OOOGLY...oooh that slanted mouth... :D

Wholeheartedly agree!!! This is, after all, an 18 year old, who became pregnant at the "ripe old age of 16!!! I think most of you should think back to what you were doing at that age. Just because her mother is who she is gives you no right to judge either the Mother OR the daughter. As an example, I spent most of my adult life as a CID agent in the Army, and much of that was in "drug suppression" on an International level! There was NEVER a doubt in my family about where I stood, or what I expected. I STILL had a daughter who rebelled. She still ended up in drug rehab at the "ripe old age" of 14!!! I practiced "tough love", to include throwing her and half the city police force off my porch when they tried to tell me I couldn't throw her out of the house. The police left with their tails between their legs and she left with her clothes and other worldly posessions (which I and her mother paid for) in a black plastic garbage bag. Subsequently, she saw the light, straightened her a$$ up, obtained her GED, and then managed to obtain her BS in Nursing and makes more money now than I EVER did! She still thanks me today, and I have a wonderful granddaughter to boot. We are closer now than we have ever been. What I am trying to say here is:
1. Some of you are too damn judgmental!
2. Parents are NOT always responsible for the acts of their children!
Despite our best efforts, other factors weigh in. Take a "self inventory" first...and for those of you who don't have children yet...shut the hell up, because you have no right to speak on this topic! For those of you who do have children, you either have not had problems yet, or you are hypocrites! No one has a right to judge someone else or their family situation!!!

But your daughter is what she is thru tough love. I get that. I was a Navy brat, I knew what military discipline was by age 5. 'No sir' and 'Yes Maam' was instilled in me at an early age. I respect my parents. Having to tell my parents that I fathered a child at 16 would have been hell.
I have a 6 year old daughter. She knows wrong from right. She knows to respect others. We discipline her accordingly. Do I want Bristol Palin to be her roll model? Nope.
If this was not a high profile issue, it would not be posted on any internet chat board to be discussed. If Bristol was not Sarah's child, she would just be another teen pregnancy. Another statistic.
The point is about properly parenting, whether thru tough love, your children. What they do in adolescence is a reflection of how they were parented.

*Standing Ovation* I'll give em the right to speak on the topic, sprts, I might not listen, though. We've had a time with our youngest daughter. In some cases, it just doesn't seem to matter what the parents do, the children go their own way. I think it's more accurate to say that the adult a person becomes is maybe more of a reflection of the parents. Who in the Hell actually believes that when someone is going through teen years they are supposed to reflect adult knowledge and wisdom anyway?

AGAIN, I can't stress enough...you can "properly parent" all you want, but each child is an individual! They will either accept, or reject, the advice/counsel/values that you attempt to give them. Let me know how your 6 year old daughter does when she is between the ages of 12 and 15. You'll be surprised at how they can change during those ages. I hope she follows through and follows your example.

Look, I'm not saying I'm the sharpest knife in the drawer, but for you to say she sounded like an average 18 year old is hilarious!!! If that's the case I suggest you start boycotting Norfolk schools right now... Maybe I was a little harsh on her, but surely one little thread while the fishing is slow is nothing compared to what the media will do to her. It sounds like you're taking the whole thing a little too personal to me. Hope my comments didn't hit too close to home for you. Next time you want to hit me over the head with a dictionary, I'll meet you somewhere. It might hurt a little worse that way.

i can honestly say that i did not listen to the interview, nor will i do so later. i have 4 daughters. the oldest is 30 and an RN, the second is 25 and a school teacher, the third is 19 and in college, and the youngest is 12. i have found that each child was different in their maturity at age 19. the oldest worked full time and went to school full time. she had her own car and her own apartment. the second worked part-time, lived with her boy friend(now husband), and had her own car. my 19 yr old works very little, lives at home, and has her own car with our help. at the age of 18 i would not want to see any of my girls to through what this young girl is going through. by that i mean the pregnancy, the media any of it. would anyone expect an 18 yr old to say all the right things and answer all the questions correctly. hell i'd hate to tell anyone what i was doing at 18! let alone answer questions about it. i guess i turned out ok, well i think i did, my wife might tell you my brain got stuck at 18.

To each his own I guess. It saddens and scares me to know that it is "the norm" now for an 18 year old to be that ditsy. I was throwing my opinion out there about something on the news, then people want to come back with "personal" attacks on me. I don't think that I've ever really tried to insult another P&S member. In the past a lot of the posts Sprtsracer and Wolfva have made I've agreed with. I just don't agree with them on this. SnS would really TRY to get people going, and I don't think I do that. Not intentionally anyway. SnS was also just one to spout off behind a keyboard, where as with me I'd rather talk about it in person... It's a lot easier to talk about something in person than it is on the computer... I doubt I'll meet Sprtsracer any time soon, but I'm sure I'll end up meeting Wolfva eventually since I'll be trying to make as many P&S events as I can... 18 yr olds have ALWAYS been that ditsy. Except, of course, when I was 18 22 years ago. Then we all sounded like grand intellectuals. Wait a minute...I bet that's exactly true of when YOU were 18 as well. Or...maybe it's not true and our generations also sounded ditsy like that to adults but we didn't notice because we were to close to the situation. You know, that whole thing about being stupid kids who hadn't learned anything yet because we hadn't GROWN UP. As you said, everyone is entitled to their opinion (except, apparently, me by the way you've been talking). You think Bristol Palin is stupid? Heck, I agree. But I think most 18 yr olds are stupid, generally speaking. However, that doesn't call for the gloating attacks you've been heaping on her. I'm sure there are alot of people in this world you're smarter than. And I'm also sure there are even more people in this world smarter than you (and me, for that matter). Does that give THEM the right to castigate you for being 'stupid'?
I do find it hilarious that you get so offended over what I said to you, which basically was what you said to Bristol Palin. The difference being, YOU attacked a kid who has NO WAY to defend herself against your attack whereas I'm attacking you in a forum where you can defend yourself. So, I guess attacking the defenseless is great, but not daring to attack someone who can stand up for themselves? Interesting world you live in.
Chill with the childish, grade school threat of 'meeting me somewhere to discuss this'. Kids go out behind the school after the last bell to duke it out over words. Adults are supposed to fight back with words. If you can't handle mere words without getting your feelings hurt then you shouldn't visit forums. And even if you meant that in a civilized "Let's have a beer and talk" definition (in which case you shouldn't use euphemisms that have meant 'let's fight' since the dawn of bars) why would I, or anyone else, take a couple hours out of a busy day to talk about a meaningless trivial forum post instead of just spending the 5 minutes to discuss it in said forum?
As Sports and others said, children are individuals. They are not computers or robots. Parents can not program them. They will do whatever they want whenever they want; all the parents can hope to do is teach them to do the right thing and pray that they do. Obviously Bristol Palin's hormones got the best of her. WOW!!!! Who could have seen THAT coming!?! I mean, a teenager having sex?!?! C'mon! When has THAT ever happened in the history of the world?!? Was it stupid? Yep. Well, being a teenager means doing stupid things. Anyone here who HASN'T done something stupid kindly raise your hand. We'll dress you in white robes and worship you as the next coming of the Messiah. No offense to the parents here, but any parent who thinks their teenage child is the very model of perfection and obedience....well...maybe they are. But think back to when YOU were a teenager. Remember the things that you did, and remember what you told your parents. I kinda get the feeling you'll remember doing a lot of stuff you never told them about...stuff they probably wouldn't have wanted you to do. Right?
Just a passing thought Drawinout...if you really just wanted to point out a person being stupid in an interview, why not pick Joaquin Phoenix? His appearance on Letterman made Bristol look almost Einstienian. Or...is it because Bristol's mamma is a hated Rethuglican whilst Phoenix is a liberal Democrat? I think that's the bottom line here, just more liberal hatred towards a republican. In which case I stepped into a trolls trap and now need to take a shower.

First off, I never threatened you physically... What I said was, "Next time you want to hit me over the head with a dictionary, I'll meet you somewhere. It might hurt a little worse that way." What I meant by that was you may as well hit me with the book, because all those big words you were throwing out weren't going to hurt my feelings at all. Ya know, maybe I was a little harsh on the girl, but if I were that naive at 18 I certainly wouldn't be going on Greta Vansusteren for all the world to see. She's lucky she wasn't interviewed by someone that wouldn't baby her through it. I didn't criticize her for having a baby too young. When I was in High School I had friends that made the same mistake. The thing that set them apart was the fact that, although they were 16 years old and unprepared for motherhood, they seemingly had a lot more "common sense", if you will, than Bristol Palin has. You know, I'm really not looking to make any "enemies" on one of the only two websites I frequent Wolfva. I've admitted that I was probably a little too harsh/judgmental on the girl, and maybe my comments were a little childish. It's also a little childish to me that you want to take my OPINION about Bristol Palin's interview on TV and pick it apart. As much as I hate to do it, I will admit you may be right about the fact that being older now could somewhat distort my view of how things were when I was 18... See, I'm trying to find a little middle ground here Wolfva. That being said, I have to DISAGREE with you when you say she handled that interview just as good as any 18 year old would have.
Now, this whole liberal thing. I am not even CLOSE to being a liberal! I wasn't an Obama supporter by any stretch of the imagination, and that is evident in some of the old threads where I agreed with you and Sprtsracer on certain issues. On the other hand, I will admit the fact that I was never a big fan of Sarah Palin, which I kept my mouth shut about before the election was over. However, my opinion on Bristol's interview had nothing to do with her mother. Joaquin Phoenix had a HORRIBLE interview on Letterman!! I think if it's not some kind of act the man is on dope in the worst way! He absolutely made a fool of himself. If you're trying to suggest I'm picking on Bristol Palin's bad interview because I'm some kind of left wing liberal, you're way off base Wolf!!
Anyway, I don't really feel the need to drag this out into a 20 page argument. Ya know, I think you may be taking the whole thing a little too seriously.. I apologize if I offended you in any way, but we could argue for days and you won't change my opinion, and I won't change yours... As I said earlier, I didn't start the thread to get anybody riled up, and I'll admit I probably should have thought about it a bit more before I voiced my opinion. I had NO idea it would hit a chord with anyone. I do think you might be taking this whole thing a bit more seriously than me though Wolfva.... RELAXXXXX,,,, let's go fishing or something bud, instead of all this man drama...:D You've got me pulling my hair out, ruining my supermodel good looks over here.:D:D As I said, I'm in no hurry to make any P&S "enemies".....

I'd be saying the same damn thing I said about Bristol Palin! Kids are kids, and it has NOTHING to do with the politics, race, "social status", economic status or whatever of the parents! Grow up! You're starting to sound like an 18 year old now!

Im a Republican through and through....and I think she sounded terrible. The Bush girls and Chelsea Clinton were able to at least speak with the media. Im only 21, 3 years ago I did not sound like this girl, nor did my friends. Not sayin there werent kids like that in my school, but some of you are painting that as the norm

Man I'm glad Spring is almost here.
I can attest to the children do different things than what they were taught. My teen age years involved being on restriction to kicked out of the house to a police incident.
Without going into details, I made my parents life a living hell for 3 years.
Looking back, the stuff I was rebelling against has helped me become who I am today.
Haven't looked at the interview but kids are kids and god knows I knew everything when I was 16,18,25...:redface:

To the young men with no kids right now. Be very, very careful. There will come a day you will be eating sandwiches full of your own ideals and words.
I can promise you that!
Give them direction, so when they stray, they may find there way back home!

Like I said Drawin, you shouldn't have used a euphemism meaning 'let's fight'. However, I have yet to use a single word that anyone with a high school education shouldn't know. It's not my fault if your vocabulary is found wanting; I'm not about to lower MINE however just to make you happy.
Maybe YOU weren't that naive. You also were not a teenage girl. Now, let's see...what is one thing that most teenage girls like...lesseee...could it be....ATTENTION??? Yep, I think it is. So, is it really that hard to see a teenager leaping to be interviewed on a national TV program? Heck, at least she wasn't flashing the cameras for 'Girls Gone Wild' or something.
I'm not picking apart your opinion of her. As I've stated several times, I find her stupid as well; the difference being I expect her to be stupid. She's a kid. What I was picking apart was the gleeful mean spiritedness of your attack on her. Apparently I've made you think about what you had written, you've admitted you were being childish; mission accomplished.
I never said she handled that interview as well as any other 18 yr old. I said she sounded like an average 18 yr old.
I probably am way off base insinuating you're a left wing liberal. I've been known to jump the gun once in awhile <shrug>. My bad.
Whose taking this seriously? Gist of my arguement was that you were being childish and meanspirited. You agree you probably were. As far as opinions, our opinions on Bristol are pretty much the same, that she's stupid. The only possible difference I see is I think that's the natural state of the AVERAGE teenager and she'll outgrow it. Like most people do.
Out of curiosity, if someone had posted an interview with a mentally deficient special needs student then went on about how 'stupid' the kid was and laughing about how they can't even tie their shoes and they shouldn't be allowed to breed and on and on and hey isn't it hillarious how they keep bashing their head on the wall...how would you react? Would you laugh and join in on the mockery? Or would you defend the defenseless?
I aint saying she is dumb nor am I calling her a brain surgen, what I have seen is grown men turn into blabbling bafoons when they get a camera and mic shoved in their face. She is 18 folks and her mom is still HOT :D
And don't forget...she used to be a salmon fisher! Just think...you may have eaten a salmon that she netted!

I absolutely did not use a euphemism meaning "let's fight"!! I feel like you're just beating the dead horse and instigating trouble now.... I think I've said all I really need to say on this thread.. With my last post, I tried to leave it somewhere in the middle, but it's obvious you won't be satisfied until you feel you have made an ass of me..... I'm not for it bud... Next time I'll think twice before I post a negative thread about the mentally challenged, such as Sarah and Bristol Palin...:p:D....

Exact quote: "Next time you want to hit me over the head with a dictionary, I'll meet you somewhere."
Telling someone to 'meet you somewhere' is a euphemism for meeting to fight. Has been for centuries. You explained you didn't mean it that way, and I even left you that out when I first pointed it out to you. I would have thought my last post made it clear everything was settled and we had met in the middle and that I accepted your explanations. Yet still you persist in whining that I'm instigating? I thought I had made it clear the issue was over, but you don't seem to want it to be over. I don't know. Maybe the problem is you don't understand the meaning of the word 'euphemism'. Perhaps instead of headbutting dictionaries you should use them to look up the words you don't understand? Right now you're just making yourself look like an SnS clone. In any case, I have no need to 'make you look like an ass'. You are doing perfectly well on your own.

You're half stepping on the quote wolfva. The full quote was, "Next time you want to hit me over the head with a dictionary, I'll meet you somewhere. It might hurt a little worse that way." Maybe I should have said, it might hurt ME a little worse that way.
Here was my explanation for it from one of my earlier posts. This was honest to goodness how I meant it, even though it may have come across wrong.
I'm not going to say anything negative in this post, and carry on arguing like a 3 year old trying to get the last word in. I'm going to let it lie wolfva. It's dead to me. I'm interested to see if you're big enough to let it lie without taking one more jab at me....
Now, Sunday I'm going to go out and catch a fish so I will have something constructive to talk about.
