I fished mine straight out of the box for a long time. It's only been about a month since I stripped it down and cleaned the bearings. Made a big difference. There was grease in my bearings and I'm sure that tamed it down a LOT. It's a lot more loose now, which I like. I put in the Red oil.

sounds good.
tweed.
clean the bearings... dont be like jeff and bugger all the screws. be careful the first time you take the covers off the sideplate.
clean thoroughly(the bearings are damn near packed with crap). oil with red.
take drag apart and clean that too.
remove the hunks of blue grease.
one small block is all you need in that reel.
or you can mag it.

Thanks Neil. What should I do with the drags? Not looking to upgrade right now. Just looking to keep it stock, except for oil and grease where I need it. What do I need to do with the drags to clean them but not damage them?

Out of the box there is blue loc-tight so strong steady pressure to break the seal is needed. Be ready for that so you don't strip the head.

Here's a link to alantani.com. Alan is working on a 40, but my guess is it's not put together much differently.

Neil,howbout 3n1???
Bought a 20H last year and had it filled up with 17 tri at the store. (TW's) It held about 260 yards full.
Neil,howbout 3n1???
ill be honest with you kenny, i dont even know what 3n1 is...
i use red in reels like the daiwas and the yellow in the little abus. but i don't use much of it at all since i only fish for a few days and come back home after to clean them back up. the yellow in the bigger bearings seems to blow out pretty quickly after fishing a few hours or if u get some water up there
Neil,howbout 3n1???
That's what I use, the only thing I saw with it was my 30 got squirrly in the summer but no issues spring or fall.
