I make all my own anchors and they all work fine today as i was making some new ones for the up coming season i had a decent sized snap swivel laying on the bench so instead of using the regular old folded over piece of clothes hanger i usually use i took the swivel and used that for the line tie. anyways does anybody think that the swivel line tie will cause the anchor to possibly rotate and not grab or what? Id post pictures but as im completly computer illiterate i dont really know how to do it. The new one i did with the swivle looks pretty sweet though.

I would think that using the swivel instead of the cotter pin(or in your case, clothers hangers) that when it hit the bottom, the arms of the anchor would hit the sand and just keep rotating while trying to set your anchor. The best way i can explain is that it would seem like the anchor would look like tumbleweed on the bottom while trying to set anchor. And another thing is, is that if/and when you did get it set, it would seem like there would be a higher chance of the anchor slipping.

I reckon you should just go try it and see what happens.

From what I can tell from your pics....I don't think you will have a problem with what you are doing with the swivel instead of the bend of the wire. I use swivels on the end of my anchor line and I can't forsee you having difficulty in what you are wanting to do. BUT, before you make a lot of them up I would want to be sure of how they did.

I'm speaking from experience in this.

Good luck,

Yea thats kinda what i was thinking. Ive had a snap swivel tied to my anchor line and clipped to the anchor and it held no problem but i still think it could "tumble weekd" given a strong current or something. Ima keep makeing them old school and maybe make 2 or 3 more with the swivel if it dont work just melt it down and do it over.
