well many articles state that large bucktails(make sure with strong hooks, like the striper-tough ones) are effective o ncobia. if u yak otu there and cast around when cobia are crusing, u just might get them. known lures for kigns include:gotcha plugs(when castign for spansih, small kings sometiems hit), stingsivlers(same senario as got-cha), large spoons trolled, and large topwaters(poppers)

1 Posted this on another forum yesterday.. Figured it may be some help for you on your question.. These are two ways of doing a haybail.. The bottom pic is the one I use,but the top pic (loose haybail) will also work.. As long as you have at least 4 "interlocking connections" of wire it will not cinch down on itself..

2 One way to make this rig so that wire doesn't get kinked in the middle during the fight is to make it so it's flexable at the top.. You can do this by using 100lb mono, then attach 6 to 8" wire rig with hooks at the bottom with an albright.. I've found this to work much better than a 6' length of wire that can kink during a jump a cobe or tarpon may make,or even a "skyjob" done by a king.. All these can cause kinks in the wire..

Use GOOD livebait hooks, and if trebles are invovled make sure they are strong and extremly sharp.. Generally space hooks according to size of the bait.. The way my rigs are they have two good single livebait hooks IN the bait and one treble at bait's belly.. jmo

3 Yes,plenty of folks on this board fish for kings and cobes.. With kings, livebait is king, although as another poster said,a gotcha with wire will catch kings.. Generally make up same as livebait rig with wire attached to mono with albright.. This,at times can catch you a bunch of kings jigging.. As far as cobes, livebait,or good 3oz jig and trailer (squidstrip is fine) that you can cast with accuracy..

4 Have one rod out the back with livebait, one with stingsilver or gotcha, one with bucktail and trailer... That should cover all bases..
