I'm looking for a source to buy a Gore-tex matching jacket and pants. I like the Basspro stuff, but I hate the fact that it says Basspro all over it. I feel like a walking bill board. Also seeing how we are in a recession, it needs to be very reasonably priced.
TIA,
Anthony

I've had the BPS 100 mph suit for several years and love it as far as keeping me dry and comfortable, but yeah like you said, i could do without the walking billboard effect. I'll give em a little free advertising if it means not freezing my ass off though.
As for price, anything gore-tex is gonna cost you for the most part. I think cabelas's version is a little less flashy as far as logos and stuff. Otherwise check around on ebay for a deal.

I use Cabelas gear exclusively as it is quality and does not have the logo set for all to see. Their entry level gear is about $100 per piece and is very good under most circumstances. I started with the entry and still use the jacket for fishing. I have upgraded and have never has a problem. There is no such thing as cheap gortex and I would strongly suggest staying away from the private label "waterproof" membranes.

Campmor.com --- Breathable stuff is basicly goretex without the name. Good name stuff there at reasonable prices. Marmot, Helihanson, Columbia
I buy alot of stuff from LL Bean, they stand behind what they sell and what you get from them isn't a billboard. I returned a 10 year old raincoat a few years back, the zipper got the the point where it would work, they gave me credit for what I paid for it towards a new coat.

Goretex is a fancy registered product name for laminated waterproof/breathable fabric:
"Hands down, the most common name in shell material is Gore-Tex. It is also true that you will pay more money for the designer label. A decade ago, Gore-Tex was the only game in town for waterproof/breathable protection. "
This fabric technology is now widely available and being manufactured by many companies under many names such as Entrant, Conduit, Sympatex, Hydroseal, Membrain, Omnitech, Nextec, etc...
You can find some inexpensive waterproof/breathable jackets and pants from sources such as Outlet Stores, TJ Maxx/Marshall/Ross Stores, and even Thrift Shops. I have found brand names goretex (or the like) jackets/pants for $20 or less each. One of my treasure find was a new without tag North Face goretex jacket for $15. I did not find a matching pants, but...???
Good Luck and Have Fun hunting for bargains.
