View Full Version : Magging with old Harddrive magnets?
Im new to the baitcasting reels never used them decide to give it a try so Ive been reading up and learning.Now I was very interested in magging my reel which is a jigmaster 500L. I have seen some of the post and just wondered if it is possible to use the magnets out of old harddrives? or if anyone has tried this? they are rare earth magnets as well and even have a half circular shape to them
some are thicker than others.
I will see if they sit inside and update you.
Thanks

I would think those would be a tad on the thick side, and a bit too large to do it with. Most of the reels I've ever seen magged used magnets that are thin, round, and usually no bigger than 1/4-3/8 of an inch. Worth a shot though.
no. ive done it
search for my mag saltist 20h

You moved the photos though apparently. I'd like to see it. I've got several old hard drives I could use.
How did it hold up and perform? also did you use 1 or 2 of them stacked?
let me know
