Basically lookin for a How to 101 class here, would come in handy for the new guys (such as myself) as to what I need to be lookin for. I can pick out pockets(thanks Rockfish1), but as far as lookin for rips or being able to tell what sandbar I'm lookin at I have no clue, any pics would help more so from the fisher's perspective(if possible). Any help would be outstanding!:popcorn:

P.S. It'd be awesome if someone knowledgeable and experienced created a comprehensive look at reading the surf for the bible.

Ill see what I can do as for the bible....BUt.
There has been some talk on these boards before regarding surfers...Like them or not, whatever. However, on the east coast during good surf, the surfers often times will surf areas that have a rip in them because it easier going back out and the waves peel left or right better. They use the rips so as to not get pounded by the heavy ground swells.
Also, when tides are coming in, look for areas through the outer bars where the water is brown from the sand being washed back out with the out going water. If you can find the holes, the out sucks are right there in those areas somewhere, you just have to look for them.

that is a good thread over there. THat surfer in the last pages is a good indication too of what I mentioned.
I like the offset bars where one is fading in and the other out...Or a shoal that is running out away from the beach but is not connected.
