After several years of my line breaking while casting I want to tie a shock cord on my rig. I read that 50lb test is the norm. How would you tie it on and not worry about it getting caught in an eyelit while you let it rip??? Also do you use a lighter line for your cut bait or shrimp??? Tired of losing lead while getting the maximum distance out in the water. I have 20lb mono on my reels right now. Thanks for any help...............

There is a thread in the Bible about shock knots. You can also try the Drum Fishing 101 and the Albright threads in there.
I like a spider hitch to a single overhand (shock leader) and a 5-wrap Uni-Knot (doubled main line) even though it isn't the strongest combination.

Thanks for the help. Some of those names aren't familiar with me. I went to YOU TUBE and typed in shock cords. A bunch of movies turned up showing how to tie which type knot. Hopefully I can learn from them.........
