I have been looking into Power Pro braided line for inshore fishing...from the Jamestown beach(catfish) to Va. Beach for predator fish....What would you guys say are some of the pro's and con's from your experience? Thanks:fishing:

Power Pro is good once it's broken in. It's got a coating that's a little funky at first. I also use Sufix braid, and just spooled up a reel with some Fireline 10lb. They're all good, but you'll develop your own preference with use. I like PP and Sufix the best so far.

I like the Suffix Tri+...Just wanted to try a braid this year and have been hearing good things about the PP. Any advice will help..

I use PP on all my heavier surf setups. The downfalls that you will probably here are gonna be from tying knots, leadering a fish and abrasion resistance.
I havent had any trouble with knot strength, but always double the PP with a bimini or spider hitch.
I solve the leadering problem by having gloves.
But if you are fishing around rocks and such, stick with mono. IMHO it is much more abrasion resistant on rocks than braid. Power Pro had a streak of sending a bad batch of line out for a while, but I think that is all over with now. Like a previous statement, it is great once it gets broken in. More line capacity. I think it casts better also. Go for it!

One of the things I like most about braid is it has no memory, and will not get all coiled up. If you tying terminal tackle, just use the palomar knot, quick and simple.
It is very sensitive and you can feel everything, the drawback is it has absolutely no stretch, so don't set the hook like your in the Bass Masters Tournament.
Keep a check on the first 6-10 foot of it after each retrieve to make sure you have no nicks or frays. You can add a shock leader to help with this.
I like it for throwing lures, but prefer mono for soaking baits.

I think racewire summed it up well. I've used em all and power pro is definately the most round of the braids. Something other will mat down on your reel if you don't use it for a bit and then you have to pull it all off and re-reel to get it castable. Never have that problem with the PP. I got it on my 8ft spin combo and its deadly on fish that you have to stick hard and quick (ieTog) being there is no stretch. And like RW said, no memory. You'll never get the slinky effect. I started with pp, tried a bunch of others from listening to other people but returned to PP.

Anyone have any problem with the PP on bait casters?
