Excuse me - meant 6500. I want to install a QTC frame on my CS Big Game. What parts do I need to do this (aside from the frame itself) and where can I get it?

All you need are the sideplates, spool, screws and spindle from the BG.

thx Kingfisherman. I'll make the conversion.
if you plan to fish with it.
use the stock frame and dont get a qtc.
its not exactly the best for fishing due to the way the reel foot is mounted.

ooeric is correct. QTC are no good for fishing as the QTC frame leaves an open gap just under the left side cover.
the reel foot itself is mounted on the frame with 2 screws.
it almost 100% twisted free if your fighting fish. especially hawaii fish.
IMO
if you want a nice fishing abu. use the original CS levelwind frame. cut the top off and get a stainless conversion bar.
this way. you can get a better grip then the wide bar ct frame since the CS frame has a lower thumb bar.
and water doesnt get in as easily.

i agree, this is a top reel. I am not a fan of conerting CS to CT and cutting the top bar out. Just get a CT and be done with it, you will be glad you did...

Or just hang on to the Big Game and leave it stock, and get a Blue Yonder. What kind of wimpy sissy girly-man can't get a thumb on top of the spool with the stock CT frame? :p:eek::D

I already have been using the QTC to fish with my 6500 High speed Mag. I bought it for looks and sturdiness. I like solid frame reels that almost eliminate twist when a big fish makes a run. The single bar, my friends had problems with. I do have nice CT frames that came with the HS Mag and with my Blue Yonder but I rather have the looks and rigidity of the solid frame - everyone I know and fish with does too. It hasn't let me down yet and never had a problem whatsoever on the HS Mag and casting seems like the line is flowing like glass in comparison. I find it impossible that the small bar or regular CT frame would work better both casting and fighting fish. Solid frames are the way to go and 95% of my reels are so - Trinidads, Avets, Saltists, now the Abu's.
Never worked with level winds though, thus the question here.

Already have a BY and a HS Mag ( both versions 6500 and 7000i) - all are very nice.
just my opinion on what i found out throughout the years.
and the 10 or so qtc frames i had. but if you like em. go for it.
why would you got from trinidads avets and daiwas to a lowly abu.. thats a better question =D
im puzzled by that.

I use the QTC's on my Blue Yonder and High Speed Mag regularly. These reels are combined with my 14' Oucast Ozones and Ballistic 33 and 35 for places in Hawaii where extreme distance is a benefit - mostly sandy shallow areas on the south shore. My Trindad 30's are used for baitcasting 40# test in more deeper waters where GT's and Amberjacks roam. My Avets and Saltists are used for smaller game 17 - 30# test - what I use most often. I also use Newell 546/60# and Penn 113HLW/80# solely to target big GT's. It's not uncommon to see others in Hawaii casting Newell 550's/646's and 80 - 100# test to target 100lb.+ GT's. In fact, it's very common because some of the cliffs drop off to 50-60 ft. water where distance is good but not really needed. Me and my Abu's/14# test are a minority but love the distance and love to see the reaction I get from others when they see what casting "far" really is about.
